White Night

Mod review may contain spoilers

The mod was very well done and was definitely an interesting play. I have a few reservations though.

First is that the story doesn't make a whole lot of sense, especially with how the ending was played out. I'm still not quite sure what the story was at all... There were no solid pathways in the story. It opened with one thing, switched to another, switched to another, and finally switched to another! It's almost like 4 stories in 1, and that's a little bit of a dealbreaker when playing a mod designed around a story...

The second reservation I have is that some of the puzzles, while very very well done, were a little too difficult without hints. Numerous times I found myself looking up the answers and 9/10 times I don't have to look them up, kinda breaks the submersion into the story/atmosphere.

The third reservation I have is that it just wasn't anywhere close to scary. If you ever plan on releasing an update to it regarding the scare factor, I have a small suggestion: Try to incorporate more of the psych patient monsters in a few extra places. It'll help keep players looking over their shoulders, which I almost never found myself doing... I know it's meant to be story based, but it would feel more accomplished if there were more things to try to survive from. :)

Ratings:

Level design: 8/10

The levels were exceedingly well done, however some parts could use some work. Some of the textures didn't meet well in areas, and the modeling could use some placement adjustment.

Music design: 9/10

All I have to say on the music is that it was superb. Keep that up!

Monster design: 5/10

Those fire monsters were really lame, I feel it would have been better had you used the original invisible water monsters instead... but the psych patients were awesome and so was grace's ghost thing!

Voice Acting: 4/10

The voice acting was really sub-par, almost worse than a bollywood movie... Definitely in need of more skilled actors (no offense).

Overall: 7/10

It was pretty good
