This mod was originally written for patch 1.09 when I started it 5 years ago. I never felt that patch 1.10 offered enough advantages to convert. It is a lot of work to do the conversion and I've invested a lot of time already.
Just re-install Diablo2: Lord of Destruction from CD and you'll have patch 1.07 then use the patch 1.09 installer on this download site. Then just replace the MPQ and DLL's from the Zy-El zipfile.
Oh, btw, this mod requires at least 768 MB of RAM; 1 GB is preferable.
Upon exiting the game, an UNHANDLED EXCEPTION error will occur but it will have no effect on your char or game file - please ignore it.
Connect to Battlenet. You will automatically be upgraded to patch 1.11 - the latest version. You will no longer be able to play Zy-El after this happens.
:) To install this mod, you MUST have patch 1.09d, not 1.10 or the current 1.11 patch version of Diablo2.
If you've already got 1.10 or 1.11 patch of Diablo2 installed, you have to uninstall the game and re-install Diablo2 and Lord of Destruction from the CD's. Then, use the patch 1.09d installer that I've made available in the download links for this mod. Once you've installed patch 1.09d, you can install the Zy-El mod which only requires that you delete the old files and replace with the mod files of the same name.

This mod only works with patch 1.09d - not patch 1.10 or patch 1.11. And this mod does not work on Mac's - sorry. Do not connect to Battlenet if you want to play Zy-El mod. You can't play mods on Battlenet anyways.
Connecting to Battlenet will automatically upgrade you to patch 1.11 and Zy-El mod does not work with that patch version.
The FilePlanet download links don't work very well if you're using a download manager. Even if you're not, you still have to click Back and try the link again. This has always been a glitch on FP. That's why I like hosting the mod here to provide an alternative.
The crossover from patch 1.09 to patch 1.10 is a big step and I just don't have the time to do it. Plus, it's a big learning process to mod in the new patch version. Patch 1.09 works fine for Zy-El.
And patch 1.11 just is not worth the time to change over. Too much has changed code-wise for too little benefit, IMO. A lot of D2 single players agree with me. Most of the new stuff in 1.11 is for battlenet only.
The solution is easy. Go to the Downloads and you will find a Patch 1.09d installer program. Read the instructions on the Download page for this file and then download the file and do it.
After you have installed 1.09d, remember to NEVER connect to Blizzard's battlenet otherwise it will automatically upgrade your install to patch 1.10 and you will not be able to play Zy-El.
The Shared Stash is a feature of Yohann's PlugY and it allows a single player to have a common stash for all of his characters. No more need for "mule" characters to transfer equipment between characters.
So, once you get a character leveled up, he can pass on items which are no longer of any use to lower level characters.
All characters in versions 4.x are upward compatible with all mod versions of 4.x Zy-El. In other words, a 4.0 char will work with 4.2. However, a 4.2 char will NOT work in 4.1 or 4.0.
The big difference with version 4.2 is that you MUST use the 4.2 DLL's with the 4.2 MPQ since they include coding for the Hireling inventory plug-in that was not in previous versions.
