This is where you and many mods are wrong. It should be done as much as possible before a release is conceived. People tend to consider mods and games to be completely different animals, but in truth, mods like Bushido are entirely different games. There will be nothing, repeat, nothing from half life in Bushido. Not even a single texture. Everything is 100% from scratch. Furthermore, aside fromt he awesome maps, textures, moidels and skins which in of themselves take a very long time to make, the animations and code are of an exceptionally difficult nature. What they're doing has never been attempted on this engine. The melee combat isn't going to be simple crowbar fights. Every swing and attack has to be carefully animated with a highly detailed bone system. And each class has to have its own animations, unlike CS which is basically the same anims for everyone, and for the guns, there's mostly just sprites and some first person view anims.
Considering the difficulty of the animations, thjat makes the code much more difficult as well for it has to take into account the sheer number of animations to make everything work.
In short, don't complain about the length, This is how a mod SHOULD be done. And on a side note, if they were to release it now, it'd probably be mostly unplayable.
