Frank Gibeau said anything about the studio's upcoming shooter
There is no doubt that the Star Wars license has a turbulent time behind them. In the aftermath of the game studio LucasArts closure last year ruled much confusion about the future of the license, which is not improved when Disney came out with all the ongoing projects were canceled. Publisher Electronic Arts took the case to be in their own hands by acquiring various rights related to Star Wars games earlier in the spring, and the noise was great as it awaited shooter Star Wars Battlefront was announced at this summer's E3 conference. Now the game well into the development phase, at least if we are to believe EA president Frank Gibeau.
"They showed 22 seconds of what direction they take the game in, and the response from the fans has been very positive," explained Gibeau during EA's Q1 FY14 conference. "The gang of Dice is well underway with the development of this product already, so they feel very optimistic about the shooter in the coming years."
During the conference, it was also confirmed that the game will include the ability to freely switch between third person and first person perspective, a feature that has been central to the tiligere games in the series.
Star Wars: Battlefront developed as familiar with Dices powerful Frostbite 3 engine, but no release date has been announced yet.
