SWAT: Elite Force

Mod review

Definitely a needed enhancement for an already good (although buggy) game. Adding cut content, the capability for customization (of armors) and the new command menu, with SWAT 3 like options, definitely is good.

GMDX

Mod review

GMDX is, essencially, the ultimate Deus Ex experience. Everything, and I mean everything, got heavily modified to the achieve maximum realism, while still being balanced.
A lot of things got polished from the original game, no game breaking bugs, or AI abusing anymore. The AI, for example, is very unpredictable, now you simply can`t fire a dart in a wall and sneak by.
The weapons where modified to the point they feel real, now not even master skill and full accuracy mods will keep your breathing from shaking your scope. The augs were rebalanced to make those which were completely worthless, like the aqualung or the microfibral muscle, far more useful, and those which were overpowered, like the Regeneration or the Speed Enhacement less useful, both still a good option. This is a must play for Deus Ex veterans and rookies a like.

Update: This review now hits V8. I though V7 was great, not perfect but, great. Well, V8 is the next step towards perfection. The stamina system now gives a point to walking and the less-lethal rubber rounds on the shotguns can really save your (and your enemies) life. Also it's nice to see that the AI throws flares, where's my credit for that one,|Totalitarian|? Moving on, the difficulty settings now change the difficulty. On the base game, difficulty only affected damage dealed to JC (you could be one-hit killed with sniper rifles.....that's about it), but now it's more like Splinter Cell's or Metal Gear Solid's difficulty settings, affecting AI accuracy, vision range, intelligence, hearing range. Try shoot first and forget questions, and you'll have frustration. Having a plan means that you'll win. There are some things that could be improved but right now, it deserves a 10/10. I don't know how this could be rated when it reaches perfection....taking it up to 11 perhaps. Also, this mod doesn't require you to rebuy your game (I mean you Revision)

RavenShield 2.0

Mod review may contain spoilers

RavenShield 2.0 is a very impresive mod for a game that deserved new life. The realism has been increased not only by the one-shot kill from the REAL Rainbow Six, but because most of the HUD is deactivated and there is no aiming reticle. This forces the player to use more the "SitRep" key to know what the other teams are doing and how many operatives went down. I would call this a perfect mod for everything but a few flaws. The first one, Operation Broken Stone, the terrorist with gas mask that would activate the nerve gas don`t have guns, that makes the Rainbow AI not shot them and failing the mision if you are not careful. Second, the High Capacity Magazines have being halve from, say 100 rounds to 60 rounds. Finally, they did nothing to fix the "One Attachment only" problem. It is a great mod noneless, but can be improved.

Update:

I lowered this from 9 because i discovered 2 modifications that reduce the realism of the mod
1. The FN FiveseveN AKA AP Army, has its standard magazine reduced from the original (and real) 20 round to 10 rounds. The 10 rounds magazine can be achieved by restricting the magazine. Im pretty sure that Rainbow (or any other military organization) would keep the standard 20 round magazine for multiple reasons, but the most important would be to make sure that the FiveseveN is an effective sidearm.
2.The Heartbeat sensor, by it self, is not too realistic. But now is nearly imposible to use, you barely can see the red blips from the heartbeats. I personally dislike this change.
3. Also, shotguns can now breach doors with one shot, but also punch through any form of body armor, making them OP
