Well if you want it to look like the real thing, this is a bit too narrow. The real round looks more bulky like this Upload.wikimedia.org however if this is for the AK-74 then this would be fine, just don't call it 7.62x39 when the AK-74 uses the 5.45x39 round.

thanks- I was making this for the T88 (North Korean) which is a copy of the AK74. I think I used Chinese type 56 rounds as a reference. I'm glad you caught that.

It uses very little geometry- I managed to put most of the detail into it's texture
Did you use displacement maps? I've never used them, but I hear you can map detail into it.
