Hey danate94,

You can try the following: just start the game and then open up the console by using the tilde key ~ (key above tab on uk keyboard) and type:

vid_mode 20
changevideo

Then just close the console by typing a tilde again. Now you should have a resolution which lets you set the correct resolution under options -> system.
