It is possible with UDK. Currently we are focussing on getting the main gameplay part done.
Not yet. Currently I use the default UDK HUD with some minor changes in UnrealScript.
But I plan to dive into Flash and Scaleform later this month.

Slot5 will feature both: pew-pew^^ and missles. Currently it depends on the ship you choose.
Currently the weapons are a low priority as there are some bugs to fix.
These cubes are placeholders until I take care of the HUD.

@Kodjeikov: Huge battleships need huge maps. UKD does not support maps that huge. The biggest we do will be a ship about 5 times larger than an one man fighter.
Carriership will be way bigger but unable to move.
Epic battles with a lot of fighters is goal. For now we are aiming for battles, squadron fighting squadron, aka 8 vs 8, although there can be up to 32 players on one map.
Slot5 will feature FPS segments, mainly small ones within stations e.g. switching ships, sabotage a reactor, etc.
Definitely. We will rework projectile code soon.
I announce hereby that I have joined the Slot5 Team in order to create an awesome space shooter. The basic idea remains unchanged.
