Some players with the issue reported that it is fixed when they reload the tutorial. Have you tried that?

I figured out what his problem was. If you don't allow Savage XR to access the internet (windows display dialog showing up in the background depending on security settings), the Stronghold and Redstone Mine will be invisible in the tutorial and the server list won't load as well.

The Savage XR in-game tutorial section received a big updated today! In the new Duel and Skirmish Practice mode you can fight offline against smart Bots that are able to emulate real players, have multiple play styles and adapt to the enemy!

You have to hit the redstone mine a bunch of times, then bring the stone to the stronghold. :)

Your desura repository is most likely located in an area that requires admin rights.
Run the autoupdater as adminstrator if you're on windows vista/7/8.

If it fails to download updates your connection might be too weak,
open the au.cfg and change:

downloadThreads "15" to downloadThreads "1"
or try increasing the number of retries to 6
maxRetries "3" to maxRetries "6"

This looks like your having a connectivity issue to the server

Difficult for us to fix it :/ You can try editing your au.cfg and reducing the number of threads to 1 and see if that fixes the issue.

failing that can you turn on debug mode:
debugMode "0" to debugMode "1"
and post your autoupdater/au.log file here: Newerth.com

Seems like your install is incomplete. Did you run the autoupdater at all and if so, did you run it as administrator (in case you're on windows Vista/7/8)? The autoupdater puts your game files into the right place when you start the game for the first time. If the problem still occurs, you'll find the support forums here: Newerth.com

Yes, Melee is in 3rd person by default, if you want to use ranged weapons that way too, change it in Savage XR Options -> System. :)

Savage is being played competitively since almost 10 years now. Just as Starcraft, Natural Selection and many other competitive games, Savage XR is balanced on a veteran level. The learning curve is imbalanced, but the gameplay is not. Learning to play Beasts takes longer than learning Humans, mastering Humans however takes just as long as mastering Beasts (usually about 2-3 years). As a new player both races seem to be overpowered. It really takes longer than an evening to learn the basics as well as judging the gameplay objectively. Did you watch any of the shoutcasts of the Newerth Savage League 5 so far?

As long as you're a rather unexperienced player you will experience the game in action mode mainly, because as a commander in strategy mode you would be responsible for the fun of a whole team. And nobody likes to have an incompetent leader. :) However, the gameplay in action mode is very diverse and tactical. It will take you weeks to learn the basics and even longer to become a skilled warrior.

Make sure to check the tutorials and replays in the Tutorial section of Savage XR. Watching shoutcasts from the current Savage League will also help you to improve: Youtube.com

Hi WizGamer2013, when you play from Uruguay on a german server, that means a ping of 300+ milliseconds. Which is extremely high. If your connection isn't perfect either it's likely that your unit warps in addition to the lag (delay). That happens in any online game, not just Savage XR. :)

The reason why there are "vikings" (nomads) with lazers is because the game plays in far future. Mankind destroyed itself and had to start from zero. After that nuclear winter they are facing the rapidly evolving horde of humanoid beasts, so they start to group up and rearm under the lead of Jaraziah. They discover long forgotten knowledge and technology. That's why you see that crazy mix of ancient and modern weapons, high velocity cannons in improvised wooden shafts.

Desura runs now Savage XR 1.0, the latest version of the game.

Important note for beginners:
In Savage XR go to Tutorial, then watch the Humans, Beasts and Duel Replay.
You'll learn a lot by watching these good players play.

Not anymore. The australian servers were populated 2003-2010. Around 2007-2008 they had 100+ online on peak times (with full 64 player servers) and had clanwars and leagues. These days they play on the USA servers usually.
