Well, I have taken it upon myself to create the new and improved Retake Empire at War guide to RaW installation. Including backing up data folders - Retakeeaw.freeforums.org

I think that you need to include in Installation Guide that all users should make a backup of their data folder before installing the mod. This is especially crucial for people that decide to keep the mod; the AI that gets installed in corruption/data will cause compatibility issues for people with the mod when trying to play with people that don't have the mod.

So far I have nothing to offer... considering I have not encountered the problem. I like how the comment above you was marked as spam and you have a 1-up - interesting.

Corruption is the FoC Folder... the C IS Corruption. Yeah, I don't know why valve called it "Corruption".

No, the manual does not *require* you to use launch options, as you can manually combine the Data folder with the one in mods and then with your FoC Data folder. Heck, you could even do this with the auto-installer... Way better than having the mod in two different places, that makes no sense...

I also firmly believe that there should ALWAYS be a manual and auto installation (both full versions) for things such as this. to not have both I find to be irresponsible...

What exactly does this not have when compared to the Auto? Seems to me that when you say minimal that means that not everything is there.

If that is the case, I think it is kinda stupid that those of us that prefer manual installs over auto-installs are forced to have less of a mod.

If that is not the case, you should improve your wording... Also, nobody who has not played this mod will understand what, "BASIC Republic at War v1.1.5 game files (NO AUTO-INSTALLER)" means.

How are people supposed to know the difference between Basic and Full (also mind you, this file says it's the "FULL VERSION"). And also, how is anyone supposed to know what is meant by "Auto-Installer" unless of course that is to tell people that its not an auto installation. But, why would that make it any less full than the full non-basic version of the mod?

Just a little confused as to what exactly is contained in this mod... Yours is one that I have always preferred manual over auto, especially with the pesky AI that doesn't seem to work when placed within the Mods folder (unless you fixed that).

You guys do know that this isn't just a problem with your mod, but also a problem with the game itself? What did you change about the file to get it working?

Well, it would seem that every time I install 0.2 it seriously messes with Dantooine's textures (most notably the grass textures0. If this mod ever reaches 1.0 stage, I will definitely try it out again. For now I am settling for Xarwarrz's texture mods as they are complete and I just want to play the game with better textures at this point. Though, I gotta say... I love the work so far, just don't want to fudge around with incomplete stuff at the moment.

I was downloading Xarwarz's Retexures, and imagine my surprise when I find yours for 2013! I now have to download them all, and test them all and see what I like better... dangit. More work... but hopefully it will prove well. Do you also have 2013 textures for KoTOR I?

If you can confirm that it works with Steam, could you explain if you had to do anything differently, install anything before-hand, etc. I did not get it to work with the Steam version (and I know I installed it to the override).

You know, the proper steam installation directory is...

Steam\steamapps\common\swkotor

steamapps is not spaced, and it's swkotor not Star Wars Knight of the Old Republic.

I assume that you do not have a file compresser/decompresser program. And, you do not have extensions showing on your computer. The file is "Republic at war install_1.rar" a .rar file is a compressed file, compressed using WinRAR. Download it here: Rarlab.com

The reason it probably makes copies is because it doesn't know what to do with it, I have no idea as I have never encountered that. But, download WinRAR and you should be good to go. When you open the file, you need to "Decompress" or "Extract" the files from the .rar, either by clicking the "Extract to" button, or just dragging and dropping them where you want them.

Does anyone know if GC works in Multiplayer? (I should probably make sure everyone knows I am talking about RaW, and not FoC...) Several people I play FoC with have been saying that as soon as the host clicks "Start" they always get an exception, though any players that are not hosting do not. I even tested it, and it holds true - even with the GC Performance Patch and we trying it while running the mod both ways, from the Mods Folder and the Data folder directly.

That would be because you didn't install the AI package, or install it correctly. The creators really should have explained the way you install the mod better. When you open the .rar, you will find several files. You really only need to pay attention one and the folder - Republic_at_War_Setup_2.exe and of course the Mods Folder. You obviously know how to install mods, else you wouldn't be playing it, so now we go to Republic_at_War_Setup_2 which will install the AI for the mod, and be sure to install it either in "corruption" for Steam or Star War Empire at War Forces of Corruption for retail, and not in the "Data" directory as it will auto-create a "Data" folder if there is not one - so bascially you just want it to copy to yours and not INSIDE of it. That should fix the problem. Now, if you are running the mod out of a "Mods" folder, then installing the AI to that will not work - me and a friend have tried it. The only way to get the AI to work correctly is to install (at least the AI package) to your game's Data folder. Also, one last note: ALWAYS BE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR VANILLA DATA FOLDER! If you still cannot get it to work, then we will figure it out.

Actually, the Ram fix that Lucasarts rolled out fixes the problem. They never mentioned anything about it, but I confirmed it today. At least, it worked for me. I read somewhere in a forum thread on Petroglyph's forums that it supposedly fixed the problem, but no one on that thread was able to confirm it as they didn't know anyone they could test it with. I confirmed myself today, no mods and me playing retail gold and my friend on Steam, we were able to join each other's hosts.
