Go up on the roof of the boat so you can use that oval-shaped thing with the mast on it as cover. As long as you keep it between you and the chopper, he can't hit you. I died a few times figuring out how to do it, but then accidentally discovered that method. Just crouch and move around so you break his line of sight, and sometime he won't even shoot and just flies back and forth a little (so he's easy to shoot at with the rockets).

It still took me about four tries, but it was much better than trying to shoot him from inside the cabin.

I just beat the game for the first time using your mod. Fantastic work, Garcy & FCAM Team. No mid-game crashes and no messed-up saves. Ran beautifully :D.

Just a few minor things I noticed:

1. During the Swamp level, Valerie holds her hands as if she's carrying a gun, but it remains on her back. Doesn't affect anything but it looks funny.

2. During the Fortress level, when Valerie drives the bomb-forklift into the elevator and the elevator goes down, the forklift stays where it is and levitates through the ceiling. But when it's time for her to drive it again, it magically reappears. So there's no problem here, but again, it looks funny :P

3. More seriously, I often get a crash as the game is trying to load the next level. It happened most often when loading Cooler and Fortress, and so I'd have to keep re-loading from the last save in the previous level and hoping that it wouldn't do that. I'd get a Critical Exception Error from the map editor when it did.

Other than that...no complaints. Great work. I can't wait until FCAM 2.0 so I can play through this masterpiece all over again :D

Unfortunately, I don't. I cleared out old files of mine a few days back, and the 1.87 installer was one of the casualties.

The game works fine as long as I have hardware sound turned off, so I decided to check some other games (Gothic 1, Painkiller Black, Crysis, Prey) and none of them have sound issues, so I'm pretty sure now that it isn't a system problem.

It's not a serious bug in any way, and since 1.89 eliminated all the crashes I was getting before I don't mind turning off hardware sound.

I decided to experiment further with the sound issue and found out a few things, the most important being that it's not the doppler effect that causes the problem; it's hardware sound mixing. Something between version 1.87 and 1.89 has caused this to no longer work on my machine (I've done nothing in that time but install a video card driver, which shouldn't have changed anything sound-related). Doppler effect is still switched on and works properly though. Does that help any...?

Anyway, thanks for being so active with supporting this mod. Cool to get a response literally overnight.

Great mod as always, but I have run into a few weird issues in 1.89. First off, the audio is really bizarre. Every voice echoes like it's being shouted by three or four people, so I cannot tell where the mercs are from what they are shouting. Jack does the same thing when he gets hurt; it makes him sound like an alien.

Also, in the Pier level, I cannot use the hang glider. I press my use key and Jack picks it up but then drops it again. Is this because I just fail at using it, or does it just not work right?

The enemies do seem smarter, though, like lol3r_86 said, and the weapons all do more damage. The hang glider I can do without, but the sound bug is very dangerous to me because I can't tell where the bad guys are when they start shooting :P

It happened in Training, Carrier, Fort and will probably happen in Pier. Again, the saves are all there. It just thinks an earlier one is the latest and saves the newer ones under it. Not in any way game-breaking; it just means I have to do one little extra mouse click to choose the right save.

I fiddled about with it some more. Apparently it's the Steam overlay which causes the hard crashes to desktop. But if I load up a level in order to get a checkpoint at the beginning without Steam, it then works to load that checkpoint with Steam AND take screenshots.

Also, I had the checkpoint save 'issue' within Fort - turned out I was just being blind. It WAS saving the checkpoints, but it kept saving a random middle one as 'Last' instead of the actual most recent one. So there's nothing wrong with the saves; they just end up named a little oddly.

There's a screenshot. You can see how it has the older save marked as Last instead of the newest one right below it. It just confused me so I thought the system was broken; it's not.

So 1.86 is working much better than 1.85 for me. The only serious problem I've found so far is that the checkpoints in 'Training' don't save past the checkpoint right before the two guys on the road blocking your way to the beach (the one with the boat shooting rockets at you and the two buggies). There are two checkpoints past there, but they would never save. Also, if I skipped the land checkpoints and stole a boat to go around the back of the carrier, the game would not load the actual Carrier level and I would get an editor crash for some odd reason. The Steam overlay screenshot function also causes random crashes when used excessively. Loading the Training level also took about 2-3 minutes for me, while larger Carrier and Fort loaded in about 20-30 seconds each. Coincidence?

Other than that I haven't found any serious issues. Did you turn up enemy AI again? Because they seemed smarter to me... took me by surprise when they went prone and waited for me to come by instead of just dashing out. Whatever the case...still an awesome mod. Great work, and good luck with 2.0.

I was having a pretty bad time of it crashing with 1.85; as soon as 1.86 goes up I'll see how it fares.

Again, thanks for your work on this brilliant mod. Technical niggles aside (which you fix more quickly than most modders out there), it pretty much is perfect.

It's a false positive. The file is clean; nothing to worry about. I use Nod32, which is about as picky as AV software comes, and nothing turned up.

I love this mod and am using it to play through Far Cry for the first time. I played through the first three levels (Training, Carrier, and most of Fort) in 1.7. Then I patched to 1.83 and noticed something odd. When I tried to pick up the rocket launcher at the end of Fort when all the troopers and helicopters appear, I couldn't. I couldn't drop any of my weapons. It shows them being dropped, but it just drops the weapon model but keeps the actually weapon in my inventory. So I littered the entire area with machetes without actually dropping one, and the ones I 'drop' I can't pick up; it's like they suddenly become scenery.

I killed the chopper with my M4 and went on to Pier, but it's going to be difficult to get through the game without ever being able to collect new weapons.

I'm pretty sure I'm having the same issue Sonics-World is having. Maybe a quick 1.83.1 patch to fix this? :P
