You should add a button that by holding down you do a "equipment check" which indicates how many clips and claymores and stuff you have left and also what firearms ala Resistance & Liberation. That would remove the need for any constant hud elements and increase realism.

Add an ammo belt. Theres gotta be a place all those slugs come from.

I think they can atleast up to some degree, atleast with jigglebones.
