I just got my grubby little hands on the UDK (unreal development kit) from Moddb. It is very powerful, user-friendly, and, dare I say it, better than Source. I'm just learning right now, but soon I hope to get a game going with some friends of mine. If you're interesting in game development at all, I suggest you get to downloading.
