Hello ! I am a new Amnesia modder, currently working on The Silver Key, the first mod of the Collapsing Cosmos series. This is a mod that focuses on a Lovecraft-inspired storyline, and on some aspects of mapping that aren't explored so often. I am active on the forums and I'd love to discuss Amnesia and Custom Stories with anyone that wants to !

Engine review

Exactly the engine I need. Allows easy modding, overall incredibly handy for a whole bunch of amateur modders.

Recursive Confinement

Mod review

EDIT : Increased the note I gave : ). Now that I think about it, a 6/10 was rough, considering the creativity you have shown. I still believe your next Custom Story should have more work in it, especially when it comes to mapping : ).

I just finished it, so it's time for a review. Let's start with the good stuff, because there are good things in this mod, in my humble opinion. First of all, you had a real story ! The part where you mentioned the Orb extracting your Vitae was interesting and creative. The notes are pretty well-written as well, it was enjoyable to read through that. Gameplay was pretty original as well, that's always good.

Then let's jump to the things you can improve, because you can still do a lot better I believe. First of all, mapping is not very good. It's not bad at all, but the maps are not yet pretty to watch. It's static objects , some furniture and details. Architecture is not original, you did not work on lighting or billboards a lot either, and it really hurts your CS visually. The horror element was very weak as well, I had to face two monsters during the mod, and 2 or 3 self-opening doors. That is not a lot of things to be honest. Your mod lacks scripted events, like an intro sequence, more scares...

Some usual problems were in the mod as well, such as the useless tinderboxes, the missing Stair Welders, static objects not connecting correctly, the level design is pretty weird as well with the different maps not having much logical connection I think.

That's still something I enjoyed playing and I congratulate you on that. I hope you will make other mods, because you have a story-related approach that I like to see. If you keep improving we might see some great mods from you soon !

Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Game review

I'll keep it short because everything has already been said.
Amnesia is a terrifying game that has a great story, soundtrack and voice acting. It's the perfect psychological horror in my opinion.

Amnesia - The Dark Descent is truly the amazing experience of fear they promised me.

The Custom Story support only makes it better.

Consequences

Mod review

Just finished playing it !
Some nice gameplay ideas made this mod get some points, the gigantic room is somthing I thought of and didn't use, good job on doing it : D !

Still, the mapping is just not good. Glitching textures everywhere, I couldn't see any logic in the level design, I know it's "a dream" but it doesn't make up for everything. The story was non-existant, which is actually a real problem.

I think if you learn to use the Level Editor better you can make good mods, because you seem to have great inventivity and imagination when it comes to scripted events and gameplay. Good luck !

Amnesia - Heart Bondage

Mod review

This mod contains creativity, original story, and a huge "What is copyright ?" written on every single model from Alice/BS.
Cannot give this mod a good review, this is ModDB and their site is not made for promoting that kind of stealing.

The Call From Another Dimension

Mod review

I liked this mod because you are a solid modder : detailing is good, mapping is nice, you managed to make pretty nice scripted events.

Scare throughout the story were successful on me, especially the exploding windows. I've never seen that one before and I it was a nice surprise.

Still, this mod kinda feels like it's unfinished : we don't get much about the story, the ending can come way too early, there's not even a cutscene at the end while you made an awesome one with the portal opening !

I think you did a good custom story, but slightly more work would have made it a lot better in my opinion. I still hope you'll keep releasing great CS, I like your work. Keep it up !

Cycles

Mod review

First of all, I liked the story, and the ending twist was well done, it was really mind-blowing. The problem is that it was too short in my opinion, you could have made something huge out of this "Cycle" thing, and we just get to see a small event. So, still a great story, good job with that !

Then there's the gameplay, which was i'd say too easy. Not a single puzzle, I really felt like you didn't know what to do to fill the minutes between the intro and the ending. The guard sequence was interesting, though I didn't appreciate the fact that we didn't get to see more from this new enemy.

About level design and detailing, I'm kinda sad considering that you made an awesome map after the portal : that sort of sanctuary was truly amazing. And then you got the real life levels, empty, no detailing, it really felt very awkward. So I give it 7 out of 10 : great ideas, some nice gaming moments, but it just feels like it was released before you could lead your ideas to the amazing results I hoped. I did not enjoy playing it, except for the ending and the "through the portal" map.

Fun map ^^ Original idea, I enjoyed playing this for a few minutes. Good job : >

A Late Night Drink

Mod review

I am impressed. By your scripting, by some events. I really love what you did (the spinning corridor thinggie in the Confusion door was something I wanted to do once, but I gave up on that because I thought it was impossible. Obviously not for you.).

The scripting alone and the amount of work you put into events and background story makes this story get a 10/10.

Your CS is full of feels, full of great ideas and new gameplay elements, and I love that !

Mapping is kinda terrible but really I didn't care : D Great CS, love all those new and unexpected things !

I don't doubt you'll improve your mapping in the future, but there is something I wanna point out. You did amazing scripted events, you should try to improve the puzzles in my very humble opinion. A bit too many of them involved to look for keys, and I personnaly didn't enjoy any of that.

Still, great CS, great scripting, I LOVED that. 10 out of 10.

The Four Horsemen

Mod review

The level design is amazing, I really enjoyed playing it, but there is a bug at least in my version that allowed me to finish the game in 30 mn.
So I enjoyed only a short part of it.
