Star Wars: Republic Commando

Game review

This is the greatest game you will ever have the privilege of playing. It's Star Wars, it's an FPS, you get to play as a clone commando, it's very tactical and with good AI, and a fantastic multiplayer, not to mention a splendid campaign. What more could you ask? Go buy this right now, but not from Steam because their version is crippled.

Star Trek: Legacy

Game review

Star Trek: Legacy is a starship simulator with a relatively short campaign, and from what I can tell, pretty much dead multiplayer. I haven't had this game since before the GameSpy shutdown, but I've played it enough to know that I do consider it worth picking up. If you can find it cheap, as I did, it can be a pretty entertaining game, especially with mods. It has a decent storyline in the campaign, and features the voices of all five captains. There are three time periods, Enterprise, TOS, and TNG. There is a fairly wide variety of ships, and this is easily doubled through modding. The game also includes "Skirmish" mode, in which a player can quickly get into a battle with whatever ship they want. Skirmish has two modes, Deathmatch and co-op wave. Deathmatch is easy to guess, and co-op wave involves defending a space station from hordes of enemy ships. In Legacy, the player controls a fleet of up to four ships, and can play as Starfleet, the Borg, the Romulans and the Klingons. Each of these comes with a wide variety of ships, especially Starfleet. You can utilize phasers and photon torpedoes (or other factions' equivalent weapons)and most ships are equipped with deflector shields. The game allows different impulse speeds, and also allows you to go to warp. Certain ships come with cloaking devices. You can repair your ships and also divert energy to different systems. In this game, the planets are rather pathetically small, and the maps can be quite limited as well. However, the realism and engagement in the game keeps it fun. It has drawbacks and some bugs, but overall is a game I would recommend.
