It shouldn't really matter if you overwrite the folder as new content would overwrite but it's generally good practise, plus I don't know what will change or be added in the future.

Just so y'all know, Beta13 installs to a different foldername, "supercarsmod" - beta 1-12 went into "supercars" so technically you don't have to uninstall the old one, but you might as well, saves space and confusion.

I could indeed compact the mod considerably by making a singleplayer only version, it would be identical except it would not contain the multiplayer maps, that would save quite a lot of space. For installation I copy the .rar into my "SourceMods" folder and "extract here", or you could right click on the downloaded .rar and extract to the sourcemods folder. Either way, if you have a folder in your SourceMods folder called "supercarsmod" you know you've done it right. The grav gun was removed in beta11 / beta 12 and added a reset feature, and I've not had any problems with it, but with the checkpoint system there is the potential to be put back 1/3rd of the track. Don't get stuck :p

Yes, it's probably the best mod ever :)

You might have to point it to Program Files as well, open the folder that has steam.exe in it and check it has the right folders for both parts of the shortcut.

I've given it a bit of thought and it may be possible, though it won't be as good as a properly made track. I love games which have map or track editors, but I just don't think a fully functional editor is going to happen in a somewhat simple HL2 mod. If I did create an in-game track editor it would not support AI drivers so it would be limited to people with LANs, but I will give it a go in the future and see what happens!

It's not a feature, but in multiplayer you get to choose which colour you are. It is possible to implement colour choice in the future but it would complicate things with the computer consoles where you buy and sell because they are colour co-ordinated. I would prefer to keep the colour system how it is to stick with the original theme for now.

It was an intentional feature, unless people change their name it was always Nijel Mainsail vs Nigel Mainsail(1) so for less confusion I set it to name the player as they would appear on the scoreboard. I could make the auto-renaming optional, so that feature might make it's way into the next beta, or the one after that.

Better CPU players would be nice and I will continue to try and improve them, I have a few ideas to fix their behaviour. I also need to create a questionnaire to find out how difficult people find them, whether to adjust their speed, smoothness or armour etc.

Each level (easy, medium, hard) has 7 different tracks so there are 21 in total, I do intend to create my own custom tracks in the original style, but that sort of extra content will come later in this mods' development. It is something I am looking forward to! As for more cars, I can't promise anything as it feels like I am already abusing the source engine.

On a final note, your English is fine!

Ah, I have just discovered Supercars International - I had only played SC2 on the Atari myself. Some interesting new features, but I probably won't incorporate them into my mod.

Glad you liked it! I would like to remove the grav gun, but on occasion I have needed it after getting stuck by landing badly or rolling myself. The cars are balanced nicely so it's very rarely needed, but I was thinking of implementing a feature that you reset you to the last checkpoint you passed, so the worst case scenario is that you go back a third of a lap.

What do you mean by Supercars International?

I haven't tested internet play yet, but LAN play has been successful - currently up to 2 players with every beta release but I did make an alpha 3-player version, the extra player makes a big difference! Future versions will see me add players until the source engine can take no more, but there's a huge amount of work duplicating and renaming literally hundreds of entity interactions for each player.

Ah, probably not. It would take a while to earn enough cash to purchase a new better car, and in a short 7-race series you may as well spend money on upgrades for performance before it's all over. Were you thinking some cars should be faster or have better grip, or did you just want to see some different looking cars out there even if they were about the same?

The original had 10 cars, but I've reduced it to 8 to keep things running smoothly (mainly issues with the scoreboards). I have made many efficiency improvements since the reduction so I might be able to put them back in, or maybe add "drone" cars that don't score any points to fill the track up a bit.

That is what this site should be great for - getting feedback so I can design this to appeal to most people, not just myself. In general I want to stick to the original theme but I'm not afraid to change things if the game will benefit.

I am planning to add some interview screens, but I will need to implement it well - could be tricky in 3D particularly for multiplayer. I will find a way!
