You need to go to Hard-light.net and follow the instructions. when you download Turey's FreeSpace Open Installer and folowed the instructin for that find the file named FRED2 within C:\Program Files (x86)\Desura\Common\Freespace 2\ and move it to the folder you created for the files you downloaded with Turey's FreeSpace Open Installer. then move the file named fs2_open_3_6_14 into the C:\Program Files (x86)\Desura\Common\Freespace 2\ folder. then you duoble click it and it will start up the game. Then you can creat a short cut to the game on your desktop. This worked for me and I hope it works for you!

I'm getting the exact same thing and im trying every thing, i'll get back to you if I figure it out.

So far I've spent 12 hours trying to get Freespace 2 to work and it is still not working it's really ******* me off!
