I had to look, free game? Ok what's the catch.....
Actually there isn't one. It actually IS free. No subscriptions, free download, does not require Quake 2 to run it ( if you get the standalone version ).
Ok so it's an older game, there are not as many servers anymore, but it's fast paced, and usnig the sights to aim really draws you in.
Looking at the dday dev site I see that they are still actively developing both the engine and resources, including a move toward Quake 3 maps and models.
I can't believe I've never seen this mod before, I urge anyone who loves BF1942 but hates the tanks and aircraft to give this a go, it's full of pure infantry goodness. Realistic aiming, nice weapons, fun maps, and a good bunch of players.
Well worth the download.
