I have had a look at 1.06. Unfortunately I cannot see the difference with 1.03 on my monitor so I would not be able to properly test any changes for a widescreen version of our mod.
I would probably need the raw files for 1.06 which are no longer downloadable from the Third Age website. The executable has a hit from VirusTotal.
See the main page for a reply.
Once vanilla BME is installed, the vanilla game has its own updater. It may also be possible to download offline installers for patches 1.02 and 1.03
I can zoom in/out on e.g. Dunharrow using the mouse scroll wheel or number pad 8/2. It may be that on some maps the camera was locked to prevent too much zoom when moving over mountains/depressions.
Personally I would not put the mod file in Roaming. It is best to follow the install instructions in the text file in the .rar
Did you patch the vanilla game? Does the vanilla game run OK?
Make sure no other mods have changed the BME game directory. You could try deleting the mod and then uninstalling BME. Check all the BME files have been removed. Then reinstall BME, patch it and then install the mod.
Units suddenly dying suggest there might be a problem with the base game. You could try deleting the mod and then uninstalling BME. Check all the BME files have been removed. Then reinstall BME, patch it and then install the mod. I have tested both campaigns and they do work.
The mod will be updated in future with new skirmish maps/heroes. The campaigns are quite different (especially the evil campaign) with some brand new maps for both good and evil campaigns.
In the c: drive you need to create a FOLDER called mods
Inside this mods folder you need to create another folder called ToA1_6
Then unpack the contents of the downloaded .rar file to the folder ToA1_6
I will check the Elf Upgrade FX. We plan on releasing new maps with new units on them (new heroes)
Adding another faction would require removing an existing faction and so would need a separate mod
By design/lore the elves are weak at siege (but strong early on): they have the Ents power, Galadriel and Blessed Mists to compensate.
I do not get any bug with Isengard scouts swords - please check you have an unmodded patched (1.03) version of BME. You need to reinstall BME if the game directory has been altered by a different mod.
There are 2 hints for this: 1) the Uruk gives you a clue 2) one of the bonus objectives
"Defile the land" means build something(s) unpleasant at the outpost
If you want to use the supplied shortcut then you should not create the folder in " My Battle for Middle-earth files ". See the install instructions in the .rar
