The mod is great, if it was it's own game I would purchase it. I have not had any issues with crashing or lag. I have 100-200 hours on this mod since installation in December of 2019. It has many mechanics and is well suited to the Cold War era all the way to our own and past to 2091. There are many years of work put into this mod and it shows. Any reported issues are usually addressed and the mod author/authors are very responsive in the chat and the discord. And the mod is also still be worked and improved upon as of writing!
