Portal Stories : Mel

Mod review

Phenomenal! This mod features excellent storytelling that fits right in to the Aperture universe. Combined with a relatable character, plot twists, music by Harry101uk, and excellent level design, this story picks up much of the backstory that takes place immediately before the events of Portal 2.

The level design is much more like Portal 1 as the puzzles are more challenging and don't hold your hand. This makes solving them extremely rewarding. Expect to pump your fist in the air in victory after the hardest levels.

There are tons of easter eggs and fun achievements along the way, some of which you may pick up on your first playthrough.

After escaping through the various test tracks, once the story really picks up, the challenge of the levels goes down and this is replaced by epic facility areas, plot changes, and beautiful scenery.

Plus, with arguably the best ending of any of the portal games, this story is definitly worth experiencing. Give it a try.

Great mod, crisp visuals, decent physics, good progression, Ross Scott. Yes, Ross Scott is a feature.

That aside for a second, the story is fun, sometimes haunting, sometimes taunting, never too challenging. Nothing beats looking at a puzzle and having trouble figuring it out and then going over to the robot for help only to see his happy, dumb, or clever smile staring back at you blankly.

Is the robot dumb? Is he just looking for someone to the the grunt work? Is he just sadistic? We may never know.

As I mentioned before, it has a modified version of Ross Scott's voice (Freeman's Mind). That alone adds a humor aspect to the game.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing the game. Thanks for making it!

Great mod.
I really enjoyed playing. I must say, this mod is HARD. This one picks up about where HL2Ep2 on hardest difficulty left off. Not for the feint of heart. It reminded me of a day when not everyone was expected to finish. One of the best parts of this mod is the "stumbling around" aspect. Rather that be guided, you acutally have to take stake in what you do, and look for creative ways around thing. Probably the most unique thing that the mod added was the sprint-jump-crouch action which you not only have to do, but you have to do it while balancing, etc. Very fun. I must say I wore out my left mouse button trying to play this - very fun.

Overall, thanks. I enjoyed it.
