Alright, i think most of the people have already stated their concerns regarding the mod, I'll just contribute in my case where I'd suggest changing the sounds of some of the weapons in the next update. I know its nice to have some really punchy and powerful gun sounds in any shooting game or weapons mod, but i would kindly suggest changing the gun sounds of two particular weapons.

The M1911 (and i think the rest of the sidearms) feel a lil silly having the Steyr Aug sound from Counter Strike 1.6 aka classic CS (CSGO Gun sounds can go **** itself). :))) Its waaaaaayyyyy too loud for such a puny gun.

The AWM (Arctic) on the other hand, I find it funny that it has the sound of the Left 4 Dead Hunting Rifle instead of the infamous AWP sound from Classic Counter Strike. Clearly its one of the "god" rifles in the game, and it should have the sound of one of the most infamous weapons in gaming (AWP from Counter Strike)

Since there are so many weapons to test, I'll just say this as my two main points for now. Mainly, i kindly suggest using a different gun sound to the M1911, and there are many other games that have the M1911 so you could use that.

I will be doing some further testing to see which guns have sounds that feel out of place.

I simply love the clever, hilarious, yet really savage death messages that I get with this mod. It really reminds me of Quake 1's really savage death messages but even better.

I'll try to be of assistance. I was getting that error as well when i first downloaded the wad. But if you are using something such as ZDL to launch the game and the wads, what i did was this:

Imgur.com (Call of Doom Load order)

and i was running this wad with GZ doom 1.8.10 for some reason.

Alright, i just play tested the wad and after being able to run things correctly, here's what I do have to say:

1) Some of the weapons have ridiculous fire rates that made me kinda laugh but at the same made me realize how some of these weapons' fire rates need to be toned down a bit to match how they worked in their source game(s). The weapons that I speak of are the following:

- UMP45 = Holy crap this thing's fire rate is almost the same level as that of the PPSH (and the PPSH much like in the source games was meant to have its ridiculous fire rate) when the UMP45 was more of the slower but heavier hitting SMGs. I played the CoD games that featured the UMP45 such as MW2 and MW3 and if you wanted to make a good reference to the UMP45 in said game, then it should kinda work like that.

- G36c = Another weapon that i thought had too much fire rate.

- Luger = Kinda hilarious to see a Luger to have the full auto capabilities of that of a Glock 18 ;)))

2) The Grenade that the player throws is able to actually stun monsters as if it was the player's attack before it explodes, leading to some rather hilarious cases where I could just chuck a grenade at a Hell Knight and it's stunlocked to death by a grenade :)))

3) I kinda wish that Armor is still a thing in this wad. I'm not particularly keen on more weapons replacing those precious Armor powerups and considering that most of the annoying enemies in Brutal Doom are actually the gun wielding enemies (especially on Post Ultraviolence difficulty settings where monsters have bonus damage), things can get borderline cheap, even though the weapons kinda make the player a cheapo himself though.

I'll be more indepth to my comments and critiques of the wad as I do more play testing. Right now, I'm enjoying slaughtering the crap out of those pesky demons. I highly recommend EVERYONE to play this wad on high monster maps such as Maps of Chaos, Hell Revealed, Plutonia 2, or something so everyone can enjoy the lubricious amount of weapons that one can get in a single map.

Of course, I'm still positive that improvements to the gameplay balance can be made in future updates. I've enjoyed the crap out of this add-on.

Alright, so far I've gotten deeper into BD64 and I just noticed that the Pain Elementals are a real pain to fight against. The fact that it spawns lost souls faster than the usual can make them a little bit unfair to fight against, especially in that one level where you get introduced to 2 of them.

Its only a nitpick though it it doesn't really bog the mod down a notch. I just noticed that these Pain Ele's are way harder than they were in original Brutal Doom. Add that Lost Souls are nightmarishly aggressive in BD64 much like how they were in the original Doom 64, the pain elementals are insanely tough to deal with at times, especially in cases where one have spent much of their ammo fighting the numerous hell knights that love popping in and out.

Alright, i just played a few rounds of Brutal Doom 64 and I'll try my best to describe what I've experienced so far:

I also played on UV difficulty since obviously anything less than UV is no fun.

To anyone who might complain that the player isn't as outrageously powerful as Brutal Doom/Project Brutality with the lack of fatalities and the cruelty bonuses, it is intentional. Doom 64's darker tone and lining up in with Survival Horror fits the mold that Sarge was going for. The lack of executions and even mercy/cruelty kill bonuses that helped Doomguy regained health are not here for the intents and purposes of being in-line with the darker tone of Doom 64.

Then again, i'm not a 100% sure if the cruelty bonuses are left out. If they are, then it is intentional on Sarge's part i think.

My experience with BD64 so far is basically like this: every bit of HP counts. The moment you're struck and you lost a decent amount of health, better look for those health packs since unlike Brutal Doom, there's no executions to regain health.

Those Nightmare Imps are truly nightmarish. They are quite dodgey, and missing a Super Shotgun blast against them can be really punishing. They are quite challenging and fun opponents to deal with.

So yeah so far, my experience with BD64 has been excellent. I can't wait to progress further and experience the new stuff Sarge has added such as the Revenants, Chain-gunners, and whatever else there is.

Oh and before i forgot, nice touch on the intro level before Staging Area ;). Suddenly I was reminded of the Hell on Earth Starter pack, which is obviously Sarge's previous creation and had such level with fellow marines.

Ahhh Buzzsaw.. the great communicator! I'm glad that of all the weapons chosen to be ported from Russian Overkill, this overpowered piece of technology made it. I've enjoyed every bit of it especially in Project Brutality + Maps of Chaos-Overkill where i get to slice, dice, and murderize everything with it like I was under a Buzzaxe Rampage : D

I remember seeing the even older video of BD64 that Sarge mark made a few months back and that video got me already excited. Watching this footage got me even more excited than before. Anyway, I do like the absence of the executions and the other over-the-top lunacy that the original brutal doom introduced as this one keeps the much darker tone of Doom 64 intact.

I vote on the archvile not making a return here as well. I don't think that Doom 64's level design catered to the mess that the archvile provided back in Doom 2. Those Zombie marines that are the chaingunners are very spot on, and I'm loving the revevant sprites as well.
