Yes. I'm using 64-bit Mint and it didn't work; when I checked, the forums for Sandbox admit that their 64-bit executables don't work yet and promise that 2.8 will work...

Apparently the 64-bit binaries for Linux are broken. I don't know if you have a Linux coder on the team, but they need recompiling. (next version of Sandbox GameMaker should be fine though)

It's been a while, so I have next to no chance of finding the link, but I was reading an interview with one of the 'big' UK developers like Molyneux or Braben explaining why they hate demos.

They were suggesting that people in some random study had spent more time playing game demos than games they had bought, which made the publishers reluctant to continue the practice. The theory was that players were too busy playing demos to play 'full' games, but I would be surprised if the decision improved sales at all.

That said, I remember Molyneux gave an interview where he suggested episodic / freemium gaming (i.e. a basic game / episode to play and then pay for the rest of the game) is just a re-skinned version of the old demo / full-game dynamic.
