This week I finally started work on a game idea I've had for a long time. I'm calling it for now "Fountain of Life", although I doubt I'll change it any time soon. Here's the basic premise (although I haven't worked out the details in the story): you're a kind of grim reaper, who collects the soul of those who die. But, suddenly a timer appears above your head and you realize that when it reaches zero, you will die. So now, you must collect the souls and use them to survive.
I originally thought this out as a board game; instead of seconds, you only had a certain amount of turns to live. I liked the idea a lot so I rethought it for a videogame, but it still feels right for a board game... Who know, I might make a board game adaptation if the game does well.
The Prototype
So, this week I decided on making the first prototype. I chose Game Maker, 'cause it's pretty easy and quick to use. There were a few bumps along the road (mostly because I didn't know how to use GM), but it was pretty smooth sailing, and by Wednesday, I was done. (which was nice because I wanted to finish by Friday)
But.... I tried it myself, and with a few more people... and it sucked. This was good though, because that's the idea of prototypes: find what's good and what sucks quickly. So by Thursday, I had changed it a great deal, and it was much better in my opinion. I'd love to hear your opinions, though so check it out! Download it here: T.co Instructions: Moddb.com And, I 'd really appreciate if you answered this survey: Alcex.surveydaddy.com
The prototype looks good!
Thanks! Did you try it out?
Yes! I sent my notes in a private message! Thanks again for making this available to play! It's a great concept and was a lot of fun! :)
