Are you getting a specific error, or just the fatal error when you try to start? Or is just nothing showing up (still looks like standard ZH)? Do you have regular Zero Hour or The First Decade?

You mean the AI? The AI was only partially implemented for Robots, Tank, Airforce and Demo, and rather rushed at that. I do want to give it a nice big overhaul, but I want to have some generals at a relatively completed state first, to minimize redundant work.

But again, still trying to sort out the rest of my stuff I have to get done. Please, bear with me.

I know I know. I've been unexpectedly busy over the last month, and even got behind in a bunch of school work that I'm now playing catch up with. Give me time, I'm still planning on getting this done! I just don't know when because things keep popping up on me.

I can try and do that. Of course, I'd have to do so on the Revora site since I still don't have access to use the moddb page: I've been extremely busy the past few weeks with homework, plus job hunting and the like. I'm still trying to sort everything out. And like I said before, most of what I've done has been balance tweaks and restructuring.

Just a quick update. I'm trying to get a hold of Pend to see how I'd go about releasing a new version of Remix, however I'm thinking it'll be pushed back again (I know you lot are angry, but so am I). This quarter hit me with more work than I was expecting, and I'm still trying to organize myself so I have time for everything. I will keep you guys posted though.

Part of it is that Pend was just trying to get AI into the game. I also haven't worked with the game's AI yet, but I do know that AI is really difficult to do well. I'll try and get something, but no promises right now.

I believe this: Pend got hit hard with a bunch of personal life stuff, which in addition to sapping his time probably drained any motivation he had. I think anyone else who was working on Remix went to work on Contra (or they just disappeared).

End of January is the goal. I still have to build superweapons' new building and get her tank into the game, as well as clean up flame a bit. And then make sure everything works (oh, and I need pictures which'll take a bit of time).

I do want to point something out. I'm not the Contra team. I'll try to do what I can, but as of now I simply cannot match their artistic ability. In addition, every future release and subsequent patches, bear in mind that they are alpha stage stuff. Things are bound to break or not look as polished as they should, but I'm at the moment just trying to get stuff out, and in essence improve on what's already there.

As a quick update, I passed a big milestone today. I successfully built a 3d model and imported it into Generals, and it works completely perfectly! With that, I can import my tank tomorrow (as well as texture both models) and the new Rods From God "missiles," which almost completes this version of Superweapons General! I am excited.

Okay, another apology to make. I've been sick with seasonal allergies which makes me incredibly lethargic for the past week, which means I've gotten nothing done (add to that I'm working on self motivation since I've never been good at it).

But I said I'd get this done, so I'm going to get it done! Besides, I still need to show off that I'm actually capable at modding, rather than just saying it. So the current goal is to get a release out by the end of January (I know, I keep pushing it back, please cut me a little slack). I'm hoping I'll get something stable and set before that, but end of January is where I'm aiming. I'll keep people updated, and now that I'm working on effects and models a bit I can post screenshots...um...somewhere.

Sorry, I have a quick apology to make. Whenever I've said "end of the year" I was actually thinking "end of winter break." However, my winter break doesn't actually end for another week.

So! My plan at the moment is to finish up flame and superweapons general this week, spend 1-2 weeks testing/cleaning, and then get a release out (so mid January-ish).

Please...no yelling.

Also, please realize the next version is still an alpha. It'll look a little sloppy, but should be more stable than the last version.

Remix already has the net fix. The mismatches that still exist are in effect crashes I believe (like when you try to build a unit that doesn't exist in the code) but the game can handle them. However once there are too many, the game just gives up. I'm thinking another problem is that there was a lot of wasted code (for example, multiple objects being created when only one will suffice), which may be a cause of mismatches because it gives the game a lot more stuff to deal with, making players to desync easier.

For crashes, do you mean mismatches when playing online? Those are extremely difficult to fix and I haven't been attacking them directly (though I did do quite a bit of cleaning, so the game should be more stable at the moment).

Still hoping to get a release out for the end of the year, though that's starting to look questionable. I'm going to try and spend as much time as possible these next two weeks working on it and see where I am after that.

But I'm still aiming for the end of the year. I'll try I'll try I'll try.

Also please be aware that even though it's another release, it's still effectively an alpha. It's not 'finished' even among the things that are there. I don't particularly like the idea of releasing half done stuff, but I would like a more complete version than the one that exists to be released. Also, if anyone finds a crash or a noticeable glitch I'll do my best to fix it quickly.

Actually remix already has a lot of the units that Contra has. I don't specifically plan to implement things that Contra has, because there's no real point. I do plan on adding a lot of content to remix though, so it's sure to have at least one general that you'll love to play as. Of course, that's a lot of work, so understand that it will take a long time for all of that.

I know I know. My goal is to get a lot/all of the shenanigans I want for Flame General done this week. Next week I'll play around with the AI some, as well as start work on Superweapons General. For the end of the year release, the only changed generals will be Airforce, Tanks, Superweapons and Flame, and Airforce and Tanks will have very minor changes (and some balancing across the board too). I need to remind myself that most the work should be done at least a week before the end of the year so I can do things like icons and tooltips correctly as well.

I think he's been really busy with personal stuff (work/family kinds of things). I haven't heard from him for a long while.

And now that finals are done, I shall get back to work (well...Friday. Thanksgiving and family stuff for most of today/tomorrow)! I'm just happy that there are people who still want to play this. I'll keep posting comments as things progress.

Just so people know, it's finals month for me (all my finals are big projects so they take up more time). I won't be getting much (if any) work done for the next 3 weeks. However after that I'm on break with almost nothing to do but Remix!

Umm....that depends. Mismatches will probably still happen, though hopefully they'll be rarer. If you know of a specific crash or error please let me know so I can look into it. As far as I remember I didn't have any more trouble with tech general than anyone else. I'll do more testing before I release anything and try to find as many mismatch problems as I can anyway.

FIXED!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Oh I am so pleased! The game no longer crashes on move command, which means I can actually get back to working on REAL things! Alright whoever hasn't left out of impatience, next on the to-do list: Get the tech trees sorted for Airforce and Tank generals. This should go by pretty quick (If I didn't have homework I could probably set it up in a couple hours). Following that I think I'll do a big round of testing to make sure things like chemical fields still work the way they should. Then I'm going to work on Superweapons General, getting her her new tech specializations, defenses, units, and superweapon. After that I will probably spend time learning to do AI, and getting a basic AI out for a few generals for those who would rather do comp stomps than face other people. After that I'll do another beta release.

The next version, by simple virtue of I've been cleaning a bunch up, should be a lot more stable for network play. However I'm thinking I won't actually get it out until the end of November (I know I keep pushing this back, but that crash was a PAIN, and I do plan to add a decent amount of stuff I've never touched before, so it'll take some getting used to). I will say, I PROMISE to get a release out before the end of the year. Since I'll have the entire month of December off of school and probably only part time work, this WILL be done with at least what I've listed above, though I hope to implement a lot more by then.

Okay good news! Doing another set of tests, I'm almost positive the reason for this crash is because I took out an upgrade that I'm not allowed to. So I'm going to go through and remove each upgrade one by one to find out which it is. Once I find that, I should simply be able to reinstate it and all the work that I've done will be preserved! I hope it works out that way at least.

Okay...now we're in trouble. I went through and did my upgrade name changes (again), and although I didn't do it completely I ran a test anyway. Even with far fewer changes I'm still getting the same problem (crash on move)...so....right.

I'm probably going to need a day to figure out where I'm going to go from here. One option (and probably the most likely) is that I'll keep the original names for the upgrades, and build a reference table for myself that I can use to tell me what name means what...I'm not too happy with that but it's probably the best I can do.

Huh...2 insanes...there's a reason they have that name, and I'm really surprised you take on 2 so casually. I don't think I'll give superweapons a new AA weapon, as I like the sam site. Rapid fire can be done by using avengers and missile defenders and I think that should be enough (at least for now).

Also, no. I will not give infantry access to everyone's infantry. I really dislike the entire concept behind the boss general and will not implement anything along her lines.

I'll move the shield generator to tech 2, as I think it'd be acceptable there, though it may be weakened. Additionally, I'll look into why it gets killed by mobile superweapons (Tank's artillery and the Scud sites for stealth general).

As for killing drones, I believe you can build avengers as Superweapons, and so use those for killing drone swarms.

Also, I removed the bunkers from Airforce General's defenses. They were extremely over powered.

Okay, I have an apology to make:

I'm going to have to push the planned release back a month. Although I have been making progress, my overzealous renaming of things has now caused a crash. A game breaking crash that is REALLY hard to track down. I've been looking into it for the past few weeks but haven't found it yet. And since I've had to spend my time fixing that, I haven't had time to get other work done, such as building Superweapons' new units/buildings/effects. I've done some work on tech trees, but getting this crash sorted is the priority.

So, I'll keep people updated, but don't expect much progress, other than an "I FIXED IT!" update....eventually. Then progress shall pick up again. I'll spend as much of Friday as I can looking into this too.

Originally Pend was leading development, and I believe it was only him (although he got a lot of help from Creator and the Contra team, including models I believe, as well as having some testers, though I think they're working on Contra at the moment). I took it over after Pend quit working due to not having time, although it took me a while to get into the swing of things. At the moment it's just me (with help from Creator when I need it, though I want to create my own models and such), but I kind of like that. I'm in full control. Takes longer to get stuff done though.

Still not dead. Would be nice if I could update the actual ModDB page...maybe I'll look into that (or making a new one...or something). It'd be better to have updates appear on the page itself. Makes it look more active.

Renaming is done! I still have to test to make sure everything is still the same but I believe I didn't break anything, and the game launches. So now I'm going to get Airforce and Tank's tech tree upgrades made. I'll also try and do some work with AI so that at least airforce, robots, tanks and demo still work, but that's going to set me back a good while since AI is a bit annoying to work with. But progress is being made!

Also, I'm aiming for a release by the end of September, which probably won't add too much, but things should be balanced and stable. Barring a lot of homework with school starting, I think I can make that.

It...really isn't. I'm working on it though, so be patient. I want to get a new version out as much as anybody. I just have the disadvantage of having to actually do the work for the stuff that I want.
