The Elara edition is newer. The game has new stuff, new weapons, new maps, new physics, improvements, bug fixes...

You should get the game from redeclipse.net for now. Something's up with this game on Desura, not sure what.

Also, note that the .exe will NOT work under Ubuntu Linux, you need to either use the version you will find in your application store, or the version available for download at Redeclipse.net
