The 1st Battle of the Marne is a crucial battle during the early phases of the Western Front (1914) in which German troops where almost in the vicinity of Paris, a counter-attack of 6 French Armies and British Expedition Soldiers managed to repulse the Germans around the River Marne and forced them to retreat north-east culminating to the "Race to The Sea" which caused the terrible Trench Warfare that will drag on until 1917.
On an interesting note French Reinforcements used taxi cabs to get into the battlefield which was uncommon, also the battle was fought in open-ground complete with organized mass formations and effective maneuvering
which is a contrast to the stagnant Trench Warfare the following year.
