Joazzz that is awesome as always.

Also FW's Sokar Stormbird is a variant of the Stormbird not THE Stormbird. I think it was also said somewhere (I think it may have been someone talking to one of the FW guys at an open day) that the Sokar Stormbird was the smallest Stormbird.

For refference.
"The Sokar Pattern Stormbird, known as the Death Bird to the Imperial Army was a dedicated landing craft variant of the Stormbird, developed from Warhawk and Nephoros class assault craft. It was used by the Yndonesic Bloc during the Unification Wars and later adopted by the Imperium. The design was one of the larger craft used by the Imperium and was the direct precursor to the Thunderhawk." (HH book 5)
And
"The Sokar pattern Stormbird is a dedicated attack lander. It has served as a high-durability orbital assault craft, a mobile bastion and firebase which could land a Space Marine strike force and withstand heavy ground fire while its cargo or troops and war machines disembarked to press the attack. One of the later patterns developed, the Sokar was the design precursor to the smaller Thunderhawk Gunship." - FWs site.

Still love you Joazzz.

oh yes that's all correct, i just wish we had gotten a full-sized Stormbird. they made a freaking Warlord Titan, they have no excuse - other than the one where a gigantic flyer just might not sell or be usable in games i guess...

I should expect more Stormbird stuff to come from then since GW seems to be doing the base HH stuff (squads and armour marks) with FW taking the Legion specific stuff and the character series with some of the bigger stuff as well like the damn Warlord.

I'm just waiting for GW to release the plastic Mk III armor and Tartaros Terminators separately. The Calth box was fine, but I didn't get the Prospero one because I had no use for the Legion-specific characters and the Custodes models aren't really what I hoped for.

i wonder if they're going to do a box (or boxes) for Isstvan III at any point. or the Drop Site Massacre. the involvement of so many Legions might cause complications with that, but i'd love to see what they could do with some additional armor designs. the expanded Tartaros bits in the Prospero set are so cool.

Well rumours were that Thramas with the Dark Angels and Night Lords would be next featuring MKII armour. Not sure how reliable those rumours are.

Description

Forge World finally released their Stormbird some time ago, and it wasn't all i wished it to be, so i took the design and made it sleeker and far larger to better match the aircraft i envisioned when reading the first Horus Heresy books.

It still looks like a flying brick, as per Imperial design standards, but no longer resembles a Thunderhawk with some extra wings strapped on - not so much anyway. Features include folding wings (inspired by descriptions in the early Heresy stories, and i figured that an aircraft with downwards-swept wings might want to have some sort of folding functionality to them for less spacious or flat landing zones) plus enough space for three Rhinos and even more Dreadnoughts, and a frontal assault ramp that unfolds once the triangular nose has split open sideways and down.
