All I know is that Mars is the first Forgeworld and home of the Adeptus Mechanicus...Tech-priests.
And that there is like, some monster within it
The C'tan known as Void Dragon to be exact.
Assuming the option to have the Void Dragon is still viable in-story.
Mechanicum has confirmed it.
This is what was locked within the vaults deep within mars. under horus's urgings, the forgemaster unlocked the vaults releasing the first chaotic scrap code into the imperium and starting the martian civil war. A demon bound within technology itself enpowered the rebels and mars fell to the forces of horus. I assume this scene is trying to capture that moment.
