The nails would've killed him if removed.

If the Techmarines could replicate them, I'm sure they could figure out a way to remove them. Heck, he could've even made a trip to Mars and ask the Mechanicus to take a look.

No, the Emperor, who is very smart, knew they couldn't be removed without killing him. But they were killing him slowly anyway, thats why Logar transformed him into a Daemon Prince. To save his brother from himself.

For all we know Angron could've been a perpetual like Vulcan. He could've ripped them out and just regenerated just like that.

Flipin psycho. Nothing to say about this bloodlusty crazy gurolover. I was always against him and always told to Father that he would become a problem when his mind gets out of control. Ferrus, Lion, Magnus, Roboute were in the same position in this question. And his practice of aggression implants had to be stopped. But this ****** just ignored the Emperor's will and did it in a secret. Father had to kill him instead of just advising him. It's the second mistake that i never will forget to my Father as well as mistake with Perturabo. The legion should had been prosperous and completely NORMAL legion with the advanced close combat skills without craziness. And also... Kharn could be a good replace of Angron because he was only voice of reason until uncountable rages of his primarch. And he was respected by his fellow brothers. So it's a real shame that this legion fell into Chaos because it was not only the fail of it's command but also the Emperor's fault particulary.
