This group is for everyone who like tanks, sci-fi tanks, real tanks, funny tanks, you can put here tank mods, tank maps, simply everything with straps, armor and gun :D
The TK-X or Type 10 is the latest Japanese development.
It entered service in 2012 and currently it is one of the most advanced main battle tanks in the world.
This new lightweight MBT is more agile, however less protected than contemporary tanks.
It is armed with a 120-mm smoothbore gun, broadly similar to that of the Leopard 2A5 and M1A2 Abrams. It also has advanced fire control system.
This tank has great mobility due to it's impressive power-to-weight ratio, Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and state-of-the-art hydropneumatic suspension.
This tank is not available for export customers as far as Japan's laws do not allow export of military equipment.
And what's more is that's a Mitsubishi!
if it's a Mitsubishi than there's really no surprise that it has poor armor :P
NO, that means it can drift or go to WRC :D
I guess you are right, I was thinking of the zero, but that could probably drift in the air, so yea :D
Japanese armored combat doctrine was always more or less about glass cannon-ism, if I recall.
Looks like a massive killzone under the barrel and the hatches on the turret sides don't seem to be too well armored either.
Yeah i din't pay much attention on that zone below the main gun but it seems pretty weak.
As for lateral hatches, i doubt there are just few MBT around the world which can survive a side shot, anyway i think they may just contain reactive armor but their size makes me think they probably are storage area.
This tank seems just good for japanese requirements and territory, high power, agility and the ability to gain vantage positions and use the enviroment as cover.
Now to wait for it to appear in awesome CGI animation in animu.
Pretty sure it already appeared in Girls und Panzer.
Guys, please enough of the "weak armor" stuff, this tank has state of the art composite armor based on carbon check the infos on Nano-tube carbon fiber. That is one strong material, which makes 4e gen. tanks lighter than its predecessors.
Hot diggity damn she's a beast!
This is just why the U.S. and other countries have to get new MBTs developed and produced!
