The Earth Defense Force Medium Tank is specialized a fast-response armor asset, featuring an impressive top speed and quick reload time for its main cannon. It is more commonly deployed than the EDF Main Battle Tank, due to its ability to reach a crisis situation quickly.
The EDF Medium Tank is equipped with a 85mm cannon and a turret-mounted machine gun. The 85mm cannon has a very fast reload time in comparison to its heavier cousin, the EDF Main Battle Tank. Despite being a lower caliber than the cannon mounted on the Main Battle Tank, the 85mm still packs a strong punch, being able to cripple most vehicles with ease and can topple buildings quickly with sustained fire. The machine gun is effective in close quarters for picking off individual soldiers or damaging vehicles and soldiers in civilian areas without significant collateral damage to buildings and the population. The tank reloads quickly enough that it is not necessary to fire a burst while the tank is reloading.
The Medium Tank is only moderately armored, but still retains a large degree of damage resistance. It will withstand a few direct rocket or tank cannon attacks, and will resist about 10 or so shots from the Nano Rifle. The tank is still very resistant to small arms fire, though mounted Gauss Turrets are a noticeable threat. The tank can still crush some small cars, and will crash through a few buildings/walls before sustaining a significant amount of damage. -Red Faction Wiki.
I like that it looks like a robotic tank
Guerrilla was a good game but I hate how they didn't implement a proper vehicle hijacking mechanic. The only way to get vehicles in Red Faction G was to 1. Find an empty one. Or 2. Kill all the occupants by shooting them out. But to do that to tanks and other enclosed vehicles you need a special cover penetrating weapon called the rail driver. That doesn't appear until late in the game and it still damages the vehicle.
Don't know why Volition didn't just use the hijacking systems that they made for Saint's Row.
There was also no reliable way to store or repair any vehicles either. So you never got to keep the tanks and mechs for long. :(
Given the fact you're suppose to be a guerrilla rather than Rambo, that makes perfect sense.
You can knock concrete and steel military grade buildings down with nothing but a sledgehammer and a bad attitude. You're already an action movie star. They could've at least given us a decent way to steal and store vehicles like they did in all their other games. XD
Well that's a Mass Multiplier Servo powered sledgehammer that delivers a thousand pounds of kinetic force.
So what's the excuse of being able to break through walls with the melee attack of any other non sledgehammer weapon (rifle butt etc)? XP
For God sake just put some explosive and voila job done. Simple and well executed ! :)
Just use the arc-welder, shock the crew out and barely damage the vehicle.
I would have said this was the heavy one.
Seems so much armored if confronted with the other one.
There is a part on the wiki description that says this tank looks similar to an M1 Abrams. Either I must be blind or the person that typed that is because I don't see it at all. Hull and turret look completely different.
The only resemblence I see is the same vague resemblence that almost all tanks have with each other. A fully rotating cannon armed turret placed onto a hull with two tracks for movement... I mean the pic to the right of this one is of an "Abrams" if anyone with working eyes wants to compare.
Ok?
I don't see either similarites with abrams...
I was saying that this EDF medium tank seemed more armoured tha the supposed EDF heavy tank...
No this was on the wiki where I got the pic.
