This photo is from war in Lebanon 1982....
i wish they burned inside
never wish somebody's death!!!
if it had it's engine at the front, how did it have high survivability rate?
easy, normal tanks got the crew in the front... so instead of the engine sparkling in to flames like on the merkava your crew does.
The fact a tank got it's engine in the back isn't why it is soo vulnerable from behind, it is because they strip down armor at the back and put extra in the front. Why? because you can't build friggin fortreses and then think they can move.
And on paper, engine can save your crew, but tank will be disabeled and stopped when round penetrate engine compartment.
As I said once, that tank probably won't be good in tank-on tank combat because vunerability of engine.
And about conventional tanks... front hull armor is impenetrable if tank's armor is made out of composite and if tanks is protected by modern ERA.
Imagine if a tank's armor was made of diamond, sloped, with ERA, and composite skirts.
It would be extremely hard to penetrate.
But that tank would be holy hell expensive; not to mention everyone would want to steal it.
Lol...
Xexexe... yeah.
But how much would tank like that cost?
somewhere around $750,000,000.00 more or less. and yes it would be a freakin' financial night mare. modern tanks are already hard enough to withstand 1000 tons of punishment. let alone a tank with ERA, composite armor, and diamond plating and sloped armor.
