I know they were trying to make the rebels look cool in the EU with that suit but tbh it just seems really out of character for them. I guess one could argue it's artistic expression in the sense the guys in black (typically seen as evil) are killing the guys in white (typically seen as good). And that both roles are reversed.

Maybe I'm just being too philosophical again, aw well.

I'm pro Empire anyway. When the state becomes an empire, it reaches the civilizational threshold, creating a totally self-sufficient state and cultural world of its own. Empire becomes the universal state. Its universality is manifest in the joint worldview dictated by culture, rather than by secular political and economic ideology. It's the highest form of statehood more so than a mere Republic could ever hope to achieve.

I thought you didn't like the idea of a single government ruling countless other smaller nation-states. At least that's based on your opinion on globalization so maybe I'm missing something.

Well, the one thing you are missing is first and foremost it'd require leadership that actually knows what it's doing which we don't currently have. Hence why I remain skeptical of any attempts on the part of globalists because everytime they take a shot at it, they botch it.

They have no idea how to make a empire state that's actually self sustainable. Nor do they have the guts necessary to make tough decisions for the sake of the Empire and it's citizens. Now, if we were talking those like the Byzantines of old or Romans, at least they'd have a general idea of what it takes to unify their sphere of influence under a single religion/culture. A culture with beliefs I add, that solidifies and enforces the Empires dominance not just academically and socially, but militarily as well. It is key it enforces excellence in all practical pursuits.

Of course, one thing that is prevalent throughout history regardless of how you go about it. There's always a decline as at somepoint one generation fails to pass down the torch. So the excess and apathy takes over. Such wasn't the case with the Byzantines as they eventually lost their sphere of power via the conquest during the Crusades. Shame really, I'd have liked to have seen where they went centuries from then on. The Rome that was unified under the Catholics tho, perhaps they'd have met a similar fate to that. Overall the longest Empire state to have ever lasted in human history remains exclusively with the Romans.

That said, the Galactic Empire's culture is one of duty to their Emperor and sacrifice for the sake of Imperial Sovereignty. Citizens who'd willingly sign on and give up their lives to enforce the Emperor's will on worlds even across the galaxy. That requires not just a unified way of thinking but a genuine reverence of their hierarchy. I don't see that same reverence anywhere in the western world today. The powers that be have them focused on consumerism and more petty pursuits. Which, is what ultimately does in Empires when their primary focus is excess. I'll add, as part of the culture, indulgence in excess needs to be seen as taboo.

I should probably say, the best one world government you're ever gonna get is one under the Kingdom of God from the Bible, ElfFriend. For a supposed Christian, I thought you already knew this and accepted it.

Afterall everything Ive just said above this comment pretty much requires people to abandon their vices to achieve a true empire state. But if you wanna continue to place your bets on men, by all means. Even the Galactic Empire in star wars was screwed over by the pettiness of those in charge of it.

So please, if your perceive me as delusional for believing these things take a trip down New Testament lane in Revelation 19:11-16. There's your Emperor.

At least modern western republics don't do any genocides.

I'm not gonna argue politics here, but yeah, the suit stands out quite a bit. Though then again, the Rebel Alliance is after all a pretty diverse Alliance of resistance cells from all over the Galaxy, so one shouldn't really expect an unified look.

I always assumed these armors were heavily modified stolen Imperial suits or maybe some rare state-of-the-art gear that was given to the Rebels by wealthy sympathisers.

TBF SpecForce 5th Regiment (Infiltrators) represented the most f*cked up personals of the Alliance regulars who were specifically picked for their blind hatred for the Empire.

Not to mention their job involved various shady practices like infiltration, sabotage and likely interrogation. They were basically alliance trained terrorists.
