Though I do support a universal healthcare system, I also support the concept of opting out of any such system on political/ideological/religious grounds and not having to pay for that system...

... After all, people should have the (volunteering) option to die for their beliefs/choices. Government have no right to force people to live and have them to pay for that.

No, I'm not trolling. I'm serious here.

What about children who can't make that decision for themselves?

Then their parents make the decision for them of course...

I'd go with the decision of a medical professional.

Parents can make some pretty stupid decisions for their own children, and these children should not be forced to suffer due to a parent's ignorance. (drawing knowledge from infant circumcision)

My bias here is obvious- I believe it's time for the US to be adopting effective socialized healthcare as well as the tax reforms to do so. I would also support doing so through federal grants to the states for them to set up their own state-wide systems

Feel free to debate and discuss healthcare in the US and/or around the world- this is a very loose topic.
