This is my comprehensive gameplay-altering mod for Knights Of The Old Republic 1. Enjoy!
This is a 1.5 version BTW, unlike the 1.0 one I have uploaded to KOTORFiles all those months ago. All the relevant patches are already a part of this version, so nothing else needs to be downloaded.
Details in Readme.
PREMISE OF THE MOD:Unlike my earlier Tactical Rebalance mod for K2, I used an entirely different approach here. Initially, I considered making some sort of incremental scaling script for this mod as well, but the fact is, that approach doesn't allow the fine-tuning of every single aspect of gameplay, and enemy difficulty as this one does. Instead, I painstakingly modified every module of the game, and every character within, to exacting standards. Needless to say, this method took a LOT longer to accomplish than simply using a single script to modify everything, but it allowed for much more detailed modifications and precise level of challenge. Not to mention, modifying each and every character individually allowed me to give them some additional abilities and surprises...
INSTALLATION/UNINSTALLATION: This mod does not use the TSLPatcher, but that doesn't make much difference, given the amount of changes introduced. All files from the Override and Modules folders of this mod have to go to the respective folders of your own KOTOR game (make sure the Read Only attribute is unchecked for both folders in Properties), plus the mod's Dialog.tlk file replaces the original one, and that's all! For easy uninstallation, I suggest you make copies of both aforementioned folders, so you can simply restore the originals if and when you wish to remove the mod. The same process applies to the Dialog.tlk file as well.
COMPATIBILITY ISSUES: Unfortunately, since the mod replaces the Dialog.tlk file, and makes such extremely radical changes in-game, I anticipate an extremely narrow range of compatible mods. Various reskinning/remodelling mods and minor additions should function properly, but not much more than that.
BUGS: There is one bug, on Dantooine, when you assist Bolook in the investigation of Nettic's murder. Dialogue choices lead to a dead end, and you cannot resolve the quest. I didn't even modify any of the files in the module associated with that quest, and I have no idea why this is happening. I examined all the dialogue files involved, and can find nothing wrong with any of them. I can't explain it! So, to compensate for the XP loss from that little quest, Juhani gives a lot more XP when(if) you kill her, and Sherruk as well, when you kill him later.
