Romanian Special Forces - SPP : Youtube.com

SPP and the US Secret Service held a wide range of exercises together, some of them in Romania and some of them in the US. As such, we could also speculate that FIAT operatives and CAT operatives get a chance to train with each other as well.
Most countries have a specialized service who's only purpose is to protect the life and personal integrity of the President.
In the United States, that structure is called the Secret Service. In Romania, it is called Serviciul de Protectie si Paza, or SPP for short. The Protection and Guard Service of Romania is structured in a similar way as its US counterpart.
The agents of the two services train together and have frequent meetings and conferences. Furthermore, some of their employees are also graduating each other's selection courses.
SPP is split into two main divisions, Sectia Asigurare Misiuni (SAM) - the Operative section, and FIAT, which is a counter-terrorist team.
Since the group is supposed to react to threats against the president himself, it is obviously that the men need to be well trained and equipped. However, training them for operations which regard combat divers, high altitude parachutists and other such categories has nothing to do with close protection duties.

Romanian Special Forces - BSIJ : Youtube.com

Brigada Specială de Intervenţie a Jandarmeriei (Gendarmerie Special Intervention Brigade, BSIJ) is a special operations force belonging to the Romanian Gendarmerie. The unit carries the name "Vlad Ţepeş" after the legendary Romanian ruler, "Vlad the Impaler".
The Special Intervention Battalion performs special police operations, both nationwide as well as abroad (most notably in Kosovo), and has been called to ensure protection during arrests of organized crime elements or other sensitive operations.

The Romanian Jandarmery is responsible with anti-terrorist protection of the country's strategic areas. As the top unit of the Jandarmery, members of the special intervention battalion are used to guard Romania's mountain passages, dams, vital railroad links, as well as oil pipelines, gas pipelines, refineries and indeed, the Cernavoda nuclear powerplant itself.

The Romanian Jandarmery has a few hundreds of employees performing missions abroad at any one time. In the past 5 years or so, that number ranged between 200 and 300. One of the areas in which they are present is Kosovo, although we should also mention Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania, Macedonia, Iraq, and some African countries.

The Brigade is divided in three units:

1st Battalion "Antiterorist si Actiuni speciale" (Special Actions and Counter-terrorism)
2nd Battalion "Misiuni Speciale" (Special Missions)
3rd Two Detachements " Misiuni Internationale" (External Missions)

Romanian Special Forces Mission Training - GSPI ACVILA

The unit has been founded in january 2003, because of worldwidding of the terrorist phenomenon and the crisis at Dubrovka Theatre in Moscow in october 2002.
The unit is a answer for Romania's, M.A.I.'s and E.U.'s actual needs in the perspective of E.U. accession.
Before january 2003, two romanian police officers have been travelling, studying and discussing with CT intervention specialists in E.U. countries the problems, the structure, human resources, ways and training programs in order to get operational as soon as possible.
A significant contribution and support has had mr. Walter Sperner, Romanian Ministry of Interior's councelor from German Federal Ministry of Interior, himself an ex-commander of the wellknown G.S.G.-9.

Antrenament Misiune - Trupele Speciale - GSPI ACVILA
