Opens a view to the cave system of my world...
the map just didn't load far enough

I saw this happen once. Well, I say 'saw', but what I mean is 'lost my boat in a crash against an invisible shore'.
This happened to me too... When i tried to use teleport signs
It's when the textures fail. If you install certain texture packs, parts of the png files are missing and this happens on objects.
I've never seen anything like this though. Perhaps that section is all one type of material?
