Hey Turkish007, whats your statement/view/opinion about the turkish military being the guardian of Kemalism (especially Secularism) and its role in turkish politics? As far as i know is Kemalism on many social issues centre-left and most people who identify with this position or even more further hold anti-military views (afaik Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was against military having influence in politics) but i always wanted to hear it from a todays person from turkey? :)
Oh Mr.Kemal i wish you could rise from the dead and put Turkey again in the rigth way.
What do kemalists think about Islam?
To explain in a one sentence: state affairs should be conducted independently of religion (islam). (unlike sharia)
Kemal was a great man.
he fought with Greece in 1921 i think and only commanded 100 or 200 soldiers but still won a great victory over the Greeks who were large in numbers well equipped supported by the most powerful countries (England).
I alwyays think, that without him i won't even exist, as my biological father is turkish and my biological mother is german. Would the friendship between our two nations ever have grown? I doubt it. So he somehow is my father aswell, as i don't know my biological parents. :)
It's hen interesting politic.
Today was the 90th anniversary of the Turkish Republic!
Happy late anniversary!!
I read up on Kemalism and I must say it sounds quite good, count me in! :D
