As a neuroscientist technically just a psychology major the title bothers me even though I know it's just a joke.

we ARE using 100% of our brain, is that correct?

Yep, it wouldn't be there if it wasn't useful. Sure there's redundancy here and there but even then it doesn't completely mirror the function. So if I lesion the part in my motor strip that controls my left hand with a stroke, I get some amount of left hand movement back by forcing myself to use my left hand and hoping that functionality is picked up by neighboring regions but it won't be on the level it was before my hypothetical stroke.

Scientists say we don't use our brains 100% all the time or infact not even most of the time.

sort of like when you become super attentive when something dangerous happens or your suddenly jolted.

its during that moment our brains goes full 100% but even then some people say its impossible for us to achieve full 100% efficiency of our brain on our own until we face something that requires all of our brain power which is very very rare.

and then we have general intelligence which pretty much governs what we would do with a 100% active Brain.

Can you link the paper where that's said? Since as far as I know our brains are in a constant state of sending messages even when nothing is happening since the brain works based on change (less or more) signaling rather than (none or some) signaling.

well it was more of an article given out in a magazine (Time Magazine I think) that I read ages ago.

and yes the Brain is working non-stop just like the heart but the brain is kind of on low power to balanced mode most of the time with only being full to high powered when one concentrates enough or is faced with a critical moment, its said that just like our other organs which start going super powered if are faced with a danger or something the Brain also does the samething.

Scientists say that if the Brain can be kept on that state intentionally and one can take advantage of it then it can be said your using your Brain 100%.
(Intelligence is a Major factor here again)

I was wondering what that title might invoke, but oh man I was so wrong. :D
