actually military theme is not only limited to modern or sci-fi ones but also medieval ones. anything that includes a range of weaponry, group that resembles military organization, and war to some extent qualifies being a military genre.
meanwhile, robots/mechs are a common thing in sci-fi genre in general, not only in anime. also note there are different kind of mechs. there are super robots and there are the plausible ones. gundams, huge mechs, and especially the ones powered by magical/emo/GUTS energy falls more into super robot category. while the other ones like drones, exoskeletons, power suits are more plausible, and some are already exist in real life.
due to their effectiveness/usefulness/efficiency, it is often to see mechas being used in military. and nonetheless because of its coolness factor it often overlaps with military genre which is also cool. :P
although yeah, as sci-fi genre is so broad, it's rare to see purely non-scifi military anime. maybe also because military is a rather sensitive issue in japan.
well theres military anime shows with mechas then you have Military Animes without mechas. theres alot of them w/o mechs. i just want a dark ww2 anime ;_; pumpkin scissors was ok i guess but not what im searching for. :P
That isn't exactly a MECH. That is the actual design of the very first Spartan armour, also featured in the Diary of Dr. Halsey in the Reach limited edition.
Anyone besides me notice most Anime military shows in some way have battle mechs?
Or have I just been watching too much Gundam?
If I have then you have every right to criticize me posting this pic.
This is Gundam? Which one, I don't think I have seen this yet?
not gundam. Halo Legends En.wikipedia.org
