For the past few years, Kangai has been a wanderer, but his return to his hometown has triggered a series of deaths linked to his past. He joins a group of psychic teenagers who solve mysteries under the watchful eye of the government. In Yousei, he and his group are sent undercover to a local university where they must dig up the remains of a top secret experiment. Upon arrival, they discover the project lead missing, and an old acquaintance racing them for the same information.
Hey, cool people! If the post title hasn't already given it away, sakevisual's Yousei is going to be released on Desura! It's a visual novel with murder, psychic powers, and extraneous glasses wearing! It's also got some sweet anime-styled artwork, original music, and professional voice acting.
Yousei's the third visual novel in the Jisei series, but if you haven't played the first two, worry not. You can learn about them here!
For the last few years Kangai has been a wanderer, but his return to his hometown has triggered a series of deaths linked to his past. With a bit of less than gentle prodding, he joins a group of psychic teenagers who solve mysteries under the watchful eye of the government. The group goes undercover at a local university to investigate Kangai's history, but the sudden death of a professor sets them on a new course racing an old enemy for valuable information.
Take control of Kangai as you explore the campus, interrogate suspects, and unearth together the secrets behind the lies. Can you catch the murderer, or will the murderer catch you?

I've just played the game in one evening.
The character art is very nice indeed, though Naoki still looks like he has the body frame of a girl, or possibly a hermafrodite. Most of the backgrounds are nice, especially the understated one of Li Mei's room. Some of the BG look strangely empty (the corridor in the student quarters, shame about the moiré effect toward the end) or plain boring (the courtyard of the school).
I'm not a graphical artist by any means, but those BG's are not on par with the rest of the art, which is a shame really.
As a detective novel the clues are painfully obvious, which was a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, the story is gripping; I played through it in one continuous session, eager to come to a satisfying conclusion.
I'm looking forward to the next part of the series.
Thank you for playing, and thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We appreciate it, and we hope that the next chapter doesn't disappoint!
So this is the third game in a series? Any plans to bring the rest to Desura?
Ideally, we'd sell the two games bundled together at the discount we offer on our site, so we're trying to work that out. But we do intend to get the games on Desura eventually.
Will people who buy the first two games in the Groupees bundle get Desura keys when they arrive here?
We'll see if we can work something out with the Groupees people.
Very nice
That's very generous, thanks! I'll go and buy it right now.
All the other games in the series are free from the dev site so unlikely they would bring them here XP
EDIT: Whoops. No wait. Jisei isnt XP Imma moron.
Nor is Kansei... None of them appear to be free. I agree it'd be better if they were all on Desura.
