Ubisoft and Red Storm Entertainment have announced a new VR game called Werewolves Within. Created with a social and party focus in mind, Werewolves Within attempts to recreate the social dynamics of sitting around a table and playing board games: dynamics such as treachery, deception, betrayal, and anything else that would make you want to flip the table when it happens to you.

To this end, Werewolves Within is set in a fantasy town that suffers from a werewolf infestation. Each night, players - as town members - gather in a circle and try to convince one another that someone else is a werewolf. Ubisoft's description of the gameplay expands upon this:

"After several attacks on townsfolk, the medieval village of Gallowston has had enough. With a special guidebook in hand, players congregate to vote and eliminate any and all possible werewolves hiding disguised in the village. Players utilize specific roles and abilities, and the power of persuasion to assess, deduce and win the round."

Shown being played on Oculus Rift development kits with Xbox controllers, the game allows players to adopt different stances and enact specific gestures using the buttons on the controller. Players can also lean in to whisper to the person next to them, thereby initiating a private conversation which no one else can hear.

Ubisoft plans to release Werewolves Within in Q3 of this year, and says it is targeting "all major VR headsets".
