Early history

It all started with a train ride to work. Alex looked around to see most fellow passengers playing simple games on their mobile phones to pass the time and avoid any awkward eye contact! There was a frenzy of flicking, swiping, tilting and so on!

After that

Being a programmer and a keen gamer, Alex decided to make a game there and then. The inspiration for the game was right there in front of him too! Alex decided to design and code a simple 2D game app for iPhone which revolved around flicking passengers onto arriving trains. Alex called the game TrainRush!

About LEARN TO CODE LONDON

We run code bootcamps and write apps. Some say “Those That Can Do, Those Who Can't Teach!” and we want to flip that notion on its head! Our core dream is to have a permanent in-house development team working on cool and exciting tech projects. We can then look to offer future students the opportunity to join this team on course completion, creating a more coherent bootcamp model with much more cross-over between learning and actual work.

About Alex

Alex's coding career started one Christmas when he was a teenager. Being a gamer, he asked his dad for a Super NES console. When it came to the day, Alex woke up to find a Commodore 64 personal computer! Oblivious to Alex's disappointment, Alex's dad simply said “You can make your own games with this”. Alex was hooked! He learnt BASIC that same week and never looked back. Programming has been a way of life for Alex. He went on to study at Imperial College London gaining a bachelors and then masters. Alex went on to build a successful career as a technologist working at a number of major corporations. After moving away from senior management, Alex founded his own IT consultancy and LEARN TO CODE LONDON bootcamp offering spun out from that! Alex enjoys the mentoring process and sharing knowledge, "There is a great satisfaction in that, I believe" he says.
