Oh man... I can't believe this. We waited so long and look what we got. Another failed reboot (in the vein of DMC, Castlevania: Lords of Shadows and now this) ... oh god. I can't believe that Dishonored is the closest thing to a Thief game in this day and age! Eidos Montreal got our hopes up because they did a above average job on the Deus Ex: HR. Thats what makes this even more painful to say.
Everything that made Thief great is not here.

+Animations
+Graphics are fairly high end, polished
+Optional modifiers to gameplay (like no hud ect)
+Clunky combat, I'm glad they actually decided to make combat more difficult. Ever since the whole headshot/XP debacle fans got worried. But that is basically the only pleasant surprise because the game suffers where it counts.

-Stupid and generic storyline. All the previous factions and storylines thrown out the window, none of the humor and replaced with something completely inferior. The designers behind the original Thief (the dark project) started their careers as writers... they should have gotten a small group of talented writers for this reboot!
-Sound design is not atmospheric or nuanced, sound mixing is terrible (these are a big disadvantages because Thief is ALL about sound and story).

-Gameplay aspects are not all what I was expecting, seem geared towards combat others useless. Theres no real sense of freedom, choice in what way to tackle a level/way to progress. Theres points of no return ect.
-Theres sometimes bird poo signals where you can climb and where you can't. Why not just allow us to climb anywhere we can logically get to and make non-climbable areas to high to get to?
-Cutscenes. Basically theres this weird micro-cutscene ********. Sometimes when you climb somewhere it puts you into third person..
-You get caught by guards in cutscenes as well (ruining your ghosting playthrough which is beyond your control).

-Ending. You don't want to know.

Oh well. We have still have The Dark Mod and Dishonored.

The story was ripped straight from some Inu-Yasha-loving teenage girl's Deviant F-art account and takes a steamy poop all over the previous games.

Garret is a wuss.

Tits? Really? It was a brothel, not a Steampunk convention, keep it classy, come on. Great marketing for pubescent boys, though.

You call it a Thief game, it will be judged like a thief game. End. Of. Story.

Repetitive gameplay.

Thief, being fantasy was always a little ambiguous about the time frame it was based on, but the gap this time seemed to invoke both 11th century and 19th century elements...which is just too goddamned much of a difference.

No "Taffer" to be heard.

Audio programming was bad, no ducking during dialogue. Highly annoying.

You ruined everything...

Unpolished, messy, often frustrating kitchen sink of a game.
Thief tried to (unsuccessfully) implement as many of modern game design tropes as possible, while at the same time it retained nothing of what made originals so good and showed absolutely no respect for original setting and characters. What makes this even more disappointing, is that it came from dev team that did pretty good job with rebooting Deus Ex few years earlier. This game, unlike Deus Ex: Human Revolution, is a failure as a modern AAA title and even bigger failure as a new game in beloved classic series. Avoid at all costs!

0/10 no mention on the word "Taffer"

Utter trash, even if it wasnt meant to be a Thief game, it would be utter trash.
