One of the biggest patches for The Trial (so far) has been released! This patch adds three new masks and a new local multiplayer mode above everything else. Simply run your launchers in order to update to the latest version. Haven't got The Trial yet? You can download it for free here.
The first new mask is the Doom Mask. This mask adds two new unique maps that spawn monsters instead of demotivation arrows. You'll be using C to shoot the monsters in order to gain enough motivation to complete the level. However, if you do hit the monsters, you will die.
The second new mask is the Tetra Mask. This mask will cause tetris blocks to fall from the sky randomly and getting hit by these blocks will result in death. These blocks will be able to go through platforms so you can't simply hide under platforms. This mask adds a whole new level of tension to the game since you have to move quickly in order to avoid the blocks.
The final new mask is in my opinion the most unique mask to date - the Architect Mask. This mask allows you to place your own platforms at the cost of motivation. Of course, this means that this mask will also have its own unique levels in which you will need to follow the motivation arrows to get to the finish marker. You will not naturally lose motivation with this mask nor will any demotivation arrows spawn.
In addition to those new masks we've also updated the Rainbow Mask added last patch in order to make it a little more fun. On top of the new rainbow trail that you can see in the screenshot above, the mask now provides you with 200% motivation - constantly. This means that you move extremely fast and jump extremely high.
Aside from the new masks, the next biggest thing is the new local multiplayer mode. This mode is focused on competitions and allows you to select how many rounds and players your competition will have. From there, each of your players will choose their mask before their turn and the player with the most total distance at the end of the game will be displayed on the results page.
Finally there's a lot of new fixes and miscellaneous changes such as the fact that your options now save and the fact that you can now use A/D to move and W to jump on top of the existing control scheme. You can find the full changelog here.
A patch! This patch adds two new masks as well as new resolution and fullscreen options.
