The Outforce is a traditional top-down RTS game, played across a battlefield situated in space. To simplify the control and strategy system, the player only have to control his units along a two-dimensional battlefield, with only cosmetic variations in depth. The battlefield is scattered with asteroids, gas clouds and spacial debris as well as space stations, trading posts and military bases, which are all part of an interactive environment that can be taken advantage of in the actual game play.

Dear reader, dear fans of The Outforce!

More than 20 years have passed since the game was released, and it is good to see there are more and more people still interested in the game, and many of them want to add new contents (assets), or make new maps, edit the existing ones or want to make a patch in order to make the game run on modern OS-es like windows 8.1 or 10,11.

As you probably know, we can now unpack binary data container files (.BOX files) including the PackedProject.OPF file, but for us it is not enough... PackedProject.OPF file is the main data container file that [thats inside the Content.box file] contains 3D modelfiles, textures, sounds, etc. We can unpack it with Watto's game extractor, but cannot repack it, because there are some file formats such as .CBaseClass, .CGridMember, .CUnit, .CUnitWeapon, .UNKNOWN thats structure's are unknown... the main container file is less than 10 MBs.

Shortly after the game was developed by O3 Games (now Starbreeze Studios) sold the source code and the game rights to the publisher, Strategy First. So the source code is ONLY owned by Strategy First.

I have sent plenty of emails to both lead programmer, M. Auvinen (He said, he's not interested in the game anymore, only reverse-engineering is the only solution...) Regarding Strategy First, they won't answer any of my emails, so I come to the following conclusion, they are NOT interested in this game anymore, so they should release source code is the very minimum or at least release softwares developers used to make binary data container files!

I strongly believe that still there are people really want to remaster the game (it is possible) or add new contents and / or restore the master server. If we could do it, we can found clans, organise multiplayer parties, but the most important to keep this game alive!

If there is or you know anyone who's good at programming, mainly reverse engineering, please inform me.

Thank you very much in advance.

I'm looking forward to your positive response.

Your's sincerely
