The end of the world is only the beginning...

In the middle of the 21st century
a series of catastrophic events led to the end of the modern civilization as we
know it.

Everything began with the nature's anomalies:
the sky looked like it was set on fire for a moment and then suddenly became
dark. The daylight couldn't break through the ashes and smoke in the sky. The day became twilight and nights became
even darker and now were full of fear. Everything turned into a real chaos.
Soon everything went even worse. Those who wandered in the streets in total
panic began to mutate. They began to fuse with different object, animals and
even with each other. In order to prevent further contamination, the places of mass
mutations, mostly the big cities, were hit with nuclear weapon. Part of the mutants died but radiation
provoked even stronger and scarier mutations. Rainy, cold, ruined and full of
mutants was the new world - the world without daylight.

Those who survived hardly figured out what
exactly happened and the only thing that was clear enough was that the
substance that triggered the mutation and hyper degradation of those organisms
was the one they started to call alpha-mutagen. They also discovered that
beta-mutagen made organisms enormously evolve and gain abilities like
pyrokinesys and telekinesys and
telepathy .

*The fortress* was one of the last islands
of civilization - a well fortified military complex in the mountains, not far
from one of the big cities of Western Europe. During one of professor Beregov's
scout operations, his group stumbled upon a man who was laying in the mud out
it the street. Apparently he has already started to mutate but his body was
still struggling with it. He was taken to the camp for some analysis and
experiments, and professor Beregov injected him a dose of beta-mutagen which
slowed down the mutations in him. When the man woke up he said his name was
Alex, and told professor that he was a complete hermit living outside the big
cities and that a few weeks before they had found him he was attacked by the
mutants. He managed to survive but received a solid dose of the alpha-mutagen.
After that he wandered among the ruins like in a dream, as his body was
changing. Thanks to professor Beregov, Alex was allowed to stay in the * the
Fortress* but the locals avoided talking to him for he was not a human anymore.
His body was changed by a series of irreversible mutations, which made him
stronger and more agile, and the only thing stopping him from turning into a
complete mutant monster was the beta-mutagen. For quite a long period of time
that he spent in the fortress he was helping Beregov and his assistant Anna,
doing all the dangerous and hard work that regular humans were just not able to
do.

Professor came close to discovering the cause
of the disaster. He asked Alex to travel to the outer parts of the Dead city
and research one of the biggest crack in the lithosphere, which was supposedly
the source of all mutagen on Earth. Some
mutagen vapor was analyzed and professor came to a conclusion that the source
was somewhere deeper underground.

Mutations advance and depletion of their
beta-mutagen takes Alex on a journey to the very heart of darkness - the
supposed underground Mutant city. Alex is desperate to find the cure for this
dying world and hopefully for himself.
