Lucid Dreams Studio has released the final video in its development series, focused on navigation and sensor use in “Solar Storm: STS-96”. It also features the developers breaking down when they realise even they haven’t quite mastered playing “Solar Storm” yet.

Navigation in Solar Storm is based on real orbital mechanics, so players must align their course with that of Mars, burn their engines and attempt to make the orbital transfer. On route, they will be
confronted with events which they must scan, and, if necessary, avoid by making course corrections.

Playing like a mix of FTL meets Lego with a stand-alone story, “Solar Storm: STS-96” will be released as a free demo to support the Kickstarter drive for its parent game “Solar Storm”.

“We’re happy to have concluded our development series of videos” said Kieran Mathers, creative lead at Lucid Dream Studios “which have hopefully given our players an insight into how to STS-96 and Solar Storm are going to play. It’s clear that even we haven’t quite mastered playing the game yet either, so we’re going to go off and play some now.”

STS-96 will be available to download once the “Solar Storm” Kickstarter drive has begun on the 9th of of June.
