Shavra is a first person adventure series set in the imaginary Symarian Empire. While not a roll playing game, the project sets out to deliver immersive and varied gameplay in a living, believable world.

Hi!

I'm just sending a lifebeep out there and let you guys in on the latest changes in Spyra.

This is just a small update that will however introduce a feature that will improve the immersion a lot. Thanks to S4Reals, a coder over on the TGC Forums, latest modding efforts Spyra will not only have fully functional mirrors but also full body awareness. Just like in Dark Messiah, Thief: Deadly Shadows, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and Mirrors Edge (and more) you'll be able to see your body ingame.

I'd like to show you the first prototype I made so far because I'm likely to keep it, altough you are likely to start the adventure less equipped and almost entirely naked. I see how I can manage "swapping" the players body.

I did a bit of research for this game and played some fantasy games I liked when I was younger, now with the "developers eye". I noticed, for example, that Dark Messiah of Might and Magic has very crude and simple architecture. However, clever use of highres. textures, shaders and the occasional detailed mesh hid this perfectly well. I've always been a bit of a fan of Arkane Studios but the more I analyse their work, the more I admire their artistic finesse.

Altough I dropped some subtle hints about what I changed recently, I'm not going to reveal much more here. Future details will be announced in another update with a bit more content
It would be a little premature to declare huge changes in quality without screeny-evidence
Just so much: Spyra: Prologue will be developed in FPSC-Classic (or FPSC-Loaded as Bugsy, a fellow developer and friend, and I like to call it). It will be the best playing and looking FPSC Game I ever worked on.

Its obvious that if I want to use mirrors in my game, I need to give the player an appearance. So far I am uncertain wether or not to give him a name. I'm pretty sure that I will just have the NPC's call him "Outsider, Outlander, Alien, Outworlder" or something along these lines in their own language.

Its hard to make out on these pictures, but the final design of the spyrans features mildy visible bloodvessels (arteries, veins).

Ingame, this will look similar to these screenshots:

In case you wonder why I don't post an ingame shot yet: Its for the next update The reasons being: 1.) I don't have the shadereffect for the body tweaked well enough yet and I want this to shine 2.) I have not yet adjusted the players HUD weapons arms so there is little to no difference texturewise. (I'll use different handmeshes as before now too to match the Body)

Feedback is always warmly welcome

Also: Landscape.
